Utah Evos
Al came to Salt Lake City, Utah this weekend and has been very busy!! After arriving late Friday night and staying up late HE HAS CRACKED THE ECU FOR THE ELECTRIC SILENIOD!! He now has control over it allowing him to set the boost and virtually eliminate all boost taper. I let him use my Evo for the first "test run"!! My car went to 20 PSI of boost in 2nd and 3rd gear and held to 7,500 RPM!! It dropped less then a 1/2 PSI!! This is a very important mod because up until this weekend you HAD to buy a manual boost controller to have the consistent boost!! Let me tell you this, it runs like Forest Gump on steroids!! I have put over 500+ miles on my car since yesterday and it is running great!! Thanks Al, see ya in July hopefully!!

BTW - he screwed up on my instructions as he was supposed to drive around all night to drain the crappy gas from his tank and get Chevron gas . . . . but alas he somehow decided to put in Costco gas which is the worst gas in human history. He was knocking so bad it was pulling timing to -1 degee.
We went to Chevron - filled the tank with 1/2 chevron and a bottle of octane booster and the car picked up 6 degrees of timing and about 30 whp.
Now - he should remove ALLgas from the tank - and re-fill at that same Chevron and come back so I can try and add in some more timing to his base tune so he can whoop some *** with all his evo buddies.

Yeah we were pretty close, you can tell that the 272's start pulling alot harder in the top end as apposed to the 264's. We will have to wait until there isn't a whole lot of traffic one day so he and I can do a good highway pull.

Does it have a turrrrbo?
j/k
nice pics.
jcnel.
Mine has EFI, but even thats a step up. There was one person up there with Nitrous. The turbo guys mostly ride Yamaha, but they still only get 300 or so hp. You could just as well step up to a Genesis 1800cc with 350 hp NA. If you had an extra $15,000 sitting around, that is.
Ok, I'll post more about it in the dynoflash forum, but after long long hours driving around to drain out the crappy gas, with some good ol' Chevron gas in Al was able to tune the car a bit more, and now it hauls even harder than it did for all day today... I love it Al!!! All in all, now the car feels great, and pulls all the way to redline in every gear I've tried pulling to redline in...
it was great meeting some of the evo guys during the tune. just wanna thank al for getting my car running in tip top form. car feels great. but i'm already craving more. we'll see how race season goes but i do see a bigger turbo setup b4 i'm done. hopefully forcedperformance or buschur get a 20g working right cause that's the route i wanna go with as long as it doesn't increase lag. cause let me tell you the tme spools faster than any turbo i've been in. 5th gear is awesome at any speed.
anyway, i have the injen muffler off right now and plan on gutting it to see if i can get the "choke" out of it. jake, scott, and i looked in the muffler and it is very restrictive looking. not bad for some bolt on mods but if you wanna run more boost like i am, you need something more open. if gutting it doesn't work, i'll just weld a 3" magna flow can on it.

BTW the last turbo sled he dynoed was a 98 summit-X with a 740cc kit carburated running an aerodyne 145 turbo. @ 16psi it made 315hp. The M7 he's riding this year is running a GT-3076 with a realy slick fuel injection setup. I think i've got him talked into running the Autronic smc next year. I don't think 400hp would be too difficult to reach with the current setup, and the autronic.
Hello everyone. Hope your cars are running smooth after all the tuning. I should have my stupid boost taper problem fixed by the end of the week and ready to go nose-to-nose with Scott.
