Wish we were going to Spring Mountain, hopefully good ol' LHM's track will open on time and we'll have an event or two or more there during the summer and early fall But there is one problem, my mind can't stop thinking about cams now... must, not, mod, more....
I have the same illness - as soon as I get it running and tuned I start to think of ways to try and make even more power

Thats the great thing about Evos - there is no limit to how much power you can make

What kind of performance gains could I expect if I kept my injen can and got a more straight exahust pipe?

The injen set up is a super resonsible and quiet system which no doubt was designed in no small part becuase in Cali - where Injen is from - the cops are mad **** about loud exhuasts.

The injen kit has 3 features which suck from a performance point of view - #1 it has a resonator - #2 it has a restrictive and heavy muffler and #3 its very curvy

Everything in life is a trade off

You cant have a quiet stock like sound and maximum performance

IMHO - the Buschur is the lightest, staightest and more powerful exhuast - however - its loud enough to make the dead and prob illegal in all 50 states

I have no idea how much power making changes to the injen system will make - it would have to be tested

none imo. the piping is fine. yes it has some curves in it but the restriction is in the can. also the res. is not that restrictive. it's actually larger then 3"s. Again.... ITS THE CAN THAT IS RESTRICTIVE!!!!

NO. i'm not into drag racing. my car is designed for the track/autoxing. you guys wanna prove who's faster doing that, i'll put up money if you guys wanna have a contest. but if not STFU cause i really don't care "who" has the fastest most horsepower evo. i am very happy with how my car drives overall (power, handling, and drivibilty) and really don't care how much power i have. do i want more? i would be lying if i said i didn't. but it has nothing to do with wanting to have more than everyone else. i do this for myself and not to be faster/better than my peers.
ray i think jared was joking!!!! the purpose of my car & your car are completely different i wouldn't get mad about that.. only thing i care about is going in a straight line. having my car make 500whp up here is just silly i will be lucky to make 400 to 430whp.. on race gas @ 26psi. all these #'s that al is giving out are just not reasonable not @ this elevation. calm down raymond..........lol

If you were no sick and I was not a germafobic parnoid dude we would have gotten along swell! Hope you feel better soon.

I hope you can get to the track soon so we can see what it can do. It feels just like my car felt back in October, 2003 Modified Magazine feature article when it went 11.63 at the DSM shootout. Back then I was so scared to blow my stock engine I limited it to a strict 20 psi. Your car should do another 100 whp at 30 psi.

Ture the elevation is a factor that I have no data on. Also - it seems all you guys have about there is the Mustang Dyno which is really hard to gauge.

The best way to figure out the power - imho - is to take a nice smooth run at a drag strip get the et and trap speed - weigh your car and we can then calculate the whp within a small margin of error

As a fun happy side note, NO MORE DUCT TAPE!!! Yay, Jake got his pod, and Jake handled installing it all by himself... I'm so proud of, myself!! Looks great now too, except I can't tell when I'm going over 150...

How does the car feel now withthe Chevron gas ? Is it still holding the timing and boost on the high rpms?

It's definitly holding boost, I can see that, sometimes it goes down to 20 instead of 21, but it's always right between 20 and 21... Feeling the timing is a bit more difficult, there's definitly not that dramatic dip like there was on that first gas, but it still feels like it did that night after I got that better gas, especially on the high rpms... So, if it's still pulling timing at all, I can't feel it enough to notice... especially since it feels just fine all the way through, I love having a functional 5th gear on the freeway, instead of just a gas saving gear

Watch the boost gauge - when the car pulls timing you will see the boost gauge neddle dip and fluxuate. If the gauge neddle holds steady then your timing is most likely holding steady.

Once you start to pay attenton to your car you can begin to also "feel" the timing being pulled as you are doing a full throtle pull. When the timing is pulled the car is not smooth and has a suttle bucking sensation.

You can also get a OBDII data logger like I use and log the ignition timing curves and see it directly.

I'll let you know if I notice anything, or see the boost needle dipping or fluxuating a lot. I haven't yet felt anything or seen the needle dip or fluxiate much, it goes up to like 21 real fast and then down to like 20-20.5 usually, is that an issue?
