Dont really care about the shape of the car or what engine it has...it would be a project car, just has to be able to get me through the winter months.

 

my driveline was making a pinging click noise. the carrier bearing had loss the grease cuz a rock sliced the boot

 

Whoa, edit... I just re-read your post. You have two problems: Whining while moving forward, clanking/clicking in reverse? Right?

The whining happens whether you're in gear or not?

The clanking/clicking could be a million things with just that descriptor. My suspension clanked and clunked and all sorts of other noises all the time, but mainly in reverse when the car was cold. Reverse gear itself makes a **** load of noises in the Evo. Is it hard to get into reverse gear even when the tranny has been warmed up?

Easiest thing to do first is drain your diff and tranny fluids, and look for metal flakes. Chances are if the whining is really loud, only on decel, and happens in gear or not, you're TC is fried and will probably have lots of metal flakes to make your Christmas wonderful... Mine went bad too... It sucked.

 

YES! The car is still under warrenty, but Im not sure they will warrenty it because it has been modded, and everyone knows how they are with that stuff.

Well I dont really know how to describe the sound cuz I guess its louder than a clicking...It kind sounds like you have ran something metal over. Its not hard to get into gear at all even if it is cold.

That's when you take off what you have to stock and reflash it stock not much done to it right? And your a girl that will help

I got a part time job finally and will be getting some money coming in something is better than nothing and if I sell this dang car soon I will try to get into a house I found in Orem and go back to school finally and finish no Evo for a while I guess need to finish school and have a good stable job and a house before I get another Evo Its probably the smartest and best thing for me to do right now..

 

Gratz on getting a job. What did you get? That is too bad about the IV though.

 

I am just working for a uncle with his business with sales... He said he needed some help right away and that he could give me $1000 to start so I said hell ya... He liked what I was able to do today and what I got done, He told me after 2 to 4 weeks If I can learn Everything and he can cut back on his hours then he will double my pay so I hope that works out I busted my butt today and got more done than he thought I would on my first day so he said its looking good so far and don't worry I will have the IV back with in the year its get the IV back and get outa debt and then a house the house probably wont happen till spring or summer any how because it needs to be completely remodeled anyhow so I will maybe get it in a few months... My Dad said if I got outa Debt and had 10K to put down he would help me with my first home... and this place has a 3 soon to be 4 car garage if I get it

Your getting a house to fix up then? IMO thats the best way to go as long as its in a decent area. My house back home only paid $60k for and invested another $40k plus a year's worth of work. Got it appraised before I joined the military and I was being told I should be able to get a minimum of $160k for it. Not bad for a single story 3 bedroom. Very good area and real close to one of the best pedeatric hospitals in the country, so getting it rented out is easy as hell.

That would be way too much work taking it back to stock. I like that you think just cause Im a girl I dont have much done to my car. LOL! I guess its just that typical sterotype. I wish being a girl helped but noone ever seems to give me a break cuz Im a girl I think they screw me over more cause I dont know any better.

I guess Ill find out tomorrow if thats what it is.
