its a good thing i posted that. . . Midway sells cars that could be salvage/branded title, frame damage, not mechanically inspected, and charges an insane amount for them. If you find what appears to be a good deal, its because it has one of the previously mentioned problems and all of a sudden you are stuck with a problem car that you have to pay on, or are way too upside down in to get out of it. 90% of the midway customers that come into my store are somewhere between $10-20k buried in negative equity because they were overcharged for a car that has problems. granted , there are some people taht dont know what they are getting themselves into and are naive about the fact that they are for example, paying $31,000 for an unmodded 55000 mile 04 evo. (this was a real customer i met). i dont like to bad mouth other dealers, cause we all are trying to make a living, but when i find places that are as shady as they are and ruin it for guys like me, i dont mind spreading the word.
i can recommend some decent places to look, if you dont want to look here, but where i work we cannot sell any used vehicle that has salvage/rebuilt/frame or otherwised compromised car. we are required to wholesale them out because 1. company policy and 2. the "back-u-up" warranty. also, they have to go through a used car inspection so that they are eligible for an additional warranty incase any other problems might arise. The certified used hondas are a whole 'nother story, the amount of reconditioning thats required for us to put into those is crazy. They cost a little more, but the car is guaranteed by honda.

Ya well I sold it to one of my best friends so I could buy it back, but I don't think I will for a while since He loves the car and I just want to save up my money right now, finish school, and get a home. So will see. Maybe no Evo or a year or so. Will See. I am looking at some Geo metros tho

Thanks everyone for the heads up! I will definitely stay away from them.

We are looking for a basic commuter car for the wife, she really likes the PT but is doesn't just have to be just that, any recommendations on dealers would be appreciated. Price range is about $5-6k and it should be an automatic so if anyone knows of any reliable sources I would appreciate it!!

Dont do it. Learn from other's mistakes. As I told Joey, I bought my Evo from them. Got it Sept 07. I was one of the nieve ones and went in there looking, not knowing that on base, there is a class that newcomers go through that warns against a few dealers including them. Actually, Hill AFB blacklisted Midway for a number of years because of the way they conduct business and try to screw people. I went in there looking at a few cars I noticed sitting on there lot and one of the salesmen got me to write my name and some other information down on a little slip he had. I didnt bother to read what it said as he told me it was just me giving my contact information. I wasnt even paying attention and signed the stupid piece of paper. That was the second mistake (first being that I went there in general). I had been mislead into signing a document that stated that I was buying a vehicle from them. I was stuck and had to buy a car. I could have gotten into a newer Civic for cheap, but I wanted something faster than I already had, so i test drove the 2 Evos and the 350z they had on the lot. I chose the one I bought, and they wouldnt budge from $28k (Kelley value was $21,900). I told them that I was going to just go somewhere else and look at a private party sale of a silver 9 for book value. Thats when they explained to me about the document I had signed. I was pissed. Told them that I was going to talk to a lawyer and would be back the next day. I was still stuck. I went in with an E-7 from my unit who was also a car salesman and got the price down to book value plus tax, title, and registration. They tried adding some other BS charges on to the sale and I refused, so they dropped them. I told them that I wanted a carfax report ran on it before I signed anything else, so the salesman went into the manager's office and came out like 15 minutes later and told me it was clean. I told him, that I wasnt going to take his word for it and wanted to see it with my own eyes and he told me he had shreaded it and that if I wanted to, I could pay to have it run myself. (At this point, I had been dealing with this crap for a week and was a more than a little irritated and short tempered.) I said screw it, I dont have the cash to do it right now, and the car looked, sounded, and drove fine. Finally got financing and everything done on my own since I had heard about them sticking people with variable rate APRs and the fine print on the one they wanted to give me said i believe up to 34.99% and compounded weekly or some **** like that. I went to a bank and got a check. I got the car, and less than 200 miles later, the clutch goes out on a drive through Ogden Canyon and damn near the Wyoming border, so I jump on the back of my buddies bike and ride all the way back to base. The next day, we go out and tow it back. Midway told me that it was my fault, the car was no longer still under waranty, and that I had bought the car AS-IS. I got the car into the shop on base and started taking it apart. Brackets and a bunch of miscellaneous pieces were missing out of the engine compartment that you could tell just from looking at the engine. The hole in the bellhousing that the clutch fork sticks out of was missing the rubber boot and a huge chunk out of the metal, the one on the bottom of the bell housing no longer had the rubber in it. The rod on the clutch actuator was a cheap bolt that someone had took a grinder to to make it fit. Replaced the clutch and flywheel only to find out that the ToB was wrong, took the tranny back out and replaced that. Then found out that the whole tranny was done. Took it back out and sent the tranny to Shephard. Got it back and the car was fine. Then a few months later, I went to the desert, came back and did some maintenence on it. Compression was down between 50-75 in all 4 cylinders. Thats when I finally ran my own carfax and realized that it had been wrecked. Been dealing with a lawyer since Sept 08. Hopefully I will have closer in the next couple months.

My roommate was a dumbass and forgot that Midway is where I bought my Evo from and decided to buy a Celica that was sitting on their lot. Didnt know he went there until I saw the car sitting in the parking lot at our old apartment. A week later, his gf drove me to West Jordan to pick up my truck and on the interstate coming home around 10pm, all I see is what I thought was sparks coming out from under the car, so I thought she hit something on the road. I pulled over and made the hike back to the car only to find out that the entire engine compartment was on fire and flames were shooting out of the AC vents. Normally, I have a fire extinguisher in my vehicle, but I had just bought my truck and hadn't had it home yet to throw it in. So I started putting it out with my hands and leather gloves until a cop showed up with an extinguisher. Cause was determined to be a faulty battery and faulty wiring. Now he is dealing with a lawyer, cuz that was an unsafe vehicle that very well could have killed someone had it blown up or she lost control after it caught on fire.

Another guy that I know (didnt find out till after my car) bought a newer Dodge Ram that was lifted, had 39" tires, DVD, Nav, stage 3 Banks power upgrade, among a bunch of other things for WAYYY over book value.. Took it in for an oil change and got the truck returned to him stock. He was screwed when he found out that there was a stipulation in the contract that stated that anything on the vehicle that did not come from the factory was property of Midway. So he got stuck paying an arm and a leg for a stock vehicle.

There are alot of people trying to get a class action lawsuit against them to get some money out of them and get them to shut their doors.

I could go on and on and on. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Their not gonna work with you on getting those? When I got t-boned in my s10, I got a brand new paint job, roll pan, hood, and body kit. I think I only paid maybe 200 out of pocket for all of it.
