Utah Evos
Yea, I'm doing the water pump, tensioner and all the pullies. The how-to I read looks like a real PITA for someone with just regular tools. But in that thread they said it only took 3-4hrs between the two of them on their first try and only 2-3hrs on their second car.
I'd offer to help if it didn't just basically do it twice recently FTL..DIDYSIS helped me setup my timing belt and that's the part I think sucks but he's got the system worked down pretty well
and have fun
we did my buddy erick's evo just a couple months ago and it only took us about 3-4 hours to do the timing but it took a week to actually finish it. he took the head off and had it ported and did the whole works. valve train and cams, cam gears, you know where im goin
Ya trust me Timing is something you need to be exact about, ask WES he knows well whats going on when its wrong, cars just don't work. I helped him set his the other day. As for time, I mean its a good job, it was take you a good while to do it. I think most of all that was them just doing the timing that took them a couple hours. Let me know, am well versed in all those areas of work. KEVIN
Seemed more that they used the timing gears to make the timing work, rather than doing it right and then adjusting with the gears. Ask Wes though he might have more info for you, I was only fixing the problem not in the making :-)
Timing belts not on my list of things to do
I'd much rather do something else
Yep I wanted someone who knows more about evos help me rather then just another hand there
thanks for your help. I had only setup two timing belts/timing on two motors with them out of the car and thanks again for the help
sucked I put it together and well then back and together again after that
Well it started with some bad gas and some knock..I was replacing my valve cover gasket and while the valve cover was off a friend moved one of the gears and possibly the exhaust adj gear was loose and slipped or well anyway the timing moved..So without a tensioner tool used the adj gears to make back top dead. I got a threaded bolt and went to zero out gears and put back to top dead cuz well that's how I am. When the threaded bolt(homemade tensioner) broke down inside so had not choice but to take everything all apart to get out broken bolt and might as well setup timing all fresh. So
if that makes any sense to you at all
off topic..I want to see the new Final Destination movie Aug 28th
