You can get a email tune for the AP for the same price you can a ECUFlash map. Then with the AP you can switch maps on your own without a laptop, have base maps to work from, custom tune your own maps, datalog without purchasing additional software.

I do admit for someone on a budget ECUflash is prob the way to go. BUT there is some people out there that will pay for those extra features.

The EVO 8-9 uses a special dongle that was very expensive to make and with the low volume of EVO 8-9s being sold they decided it was not smart to keep it around.
I'm aware of the ease of use with an AP in not needing to get the laptop out. But everything you can do with an AP you can do with EcuFlash. There really are no "extra" features the AP has over EcuFlash. It seems as if your really just paying a lot more for the convenience of not needing a laptop. Evoscan is only 20-30 bucks last I checked for logging, thats not too much money considering what you've saved already.

its due to sales volume and avg cost to make... basically your avg supply & demand.

The reason for the Access Port choice was i had spoken with a few other people that have them on their evos, (2) VIII's, (1) IX, and (1) X, they all explained to me similair results, gains, and benefits from owing the Access Port vs another tuning method.

Let alone I'm getting a good deal for the AP.

that blows, i paid less than that to have my car tuned on pump gas and E85 and my tune would blow the AP out of the water.

cobb makes good stuff but thier tunes are very generic and you will gain alot more and be safer by having your actual car tuned with ecuflash and someone who knows tuning

but hey its your money

i figure its cheaper than ther original price of 700, and i get the tune for free, the people ive talked with that own them say they really do prefer them over a ECUflash, plus i can change tunes without having to pay someone to retune my car everytime i get a new performance part.

You dont get the point man. Cobb AP is a generic base tune to work on all cars, its not a specific tune for YOUR car. Anyone who said they like it over ECUflash is either stupid or had someone who doesn't know **** about tuning touch their car

If you want a cheap easy tune then the AP is for you. If you want the most out of your car and the best tune you can get , having someone properly tune it with ecuflash/aem is the best way no question.

like i said its your car and your money

The AccessPORT also has free tuning software available for the EVO 8 & 9. So you get all the benefits listed above with the ability to create custom tunes.

yes but what does that benifit a guy who doesn't know how to tune?

I think the Ap is a ok unit for someone just wanting a little extra but for the evo ecuflash or aem is the way to go hands down

How does that same person tune his car with ecuflash or aem if they can't tune with AP software?
