I was driving state late tonight, and I came acrossed a 2.7 liter TT Audi S4. We did a couple of little tiny runs (I didn't want to take it too high on state of all places). Most of them I didn't really launch, but on one I took off at ~3000rpms. The thing is, I couln't pull this S4. I asked the guy if he had anything done and he said it was stock. I know they're fast, but they should be at least a little slower than me.

Here's the kicker: there was also a Subaru 2.5RS. I was able to pull on him (thank god), but not by as much as I would have thought. I asked him if he had slapped a turbo on it (I couldn't believe a stock one would keep up like it did), and he said no.

So I'm starting to think I may have a boost leak or something. The butt-dyno seems to check out, but I can't believe what happened tonight.

So whadyall think?
i agree with rob!!! learn to drive!!!!!!! also the stock evo up here runs in the 14 second range!! there are plenty of cars that would keep up with you!!! even if the subaru runs 15's he is not going to be anymore than 3 to 5 cars back.

ray as far as the car feeling fast well mine feels slow as **** & 'cough alcohol injection isn't as great as you think it is. race gas = very consistant look @ all the good power evo's are they using alcohol(or would they rather use race gas?) to make good #'s????

my last evo bone stock ran 13.1-13.3 consistent with the gtech comp. blew the doors off my m3. stock evo's are fast but you have to utilize everything it's got to get good times. ie launching at 6500 thus utilizing the awd and not bogging the $hit out of them. when i was gteching mine i tried launching at various rpms. anywhere under 4000 added about another second to my qtr mile times vs. 5500 and above. the launch is very important. an s4 has more displacement thus more low end torque. if astro launched poorly and or even at the same rpms as the s4, he would not have pulled hard or not even at all vs. s4

as for the alcohol jab.... i don't think it's as great as you think i do. would i rather run c16 all the time? ***** no. not at the price it cost per gallon. alkys very cheap and might not be as good as running c16 but i'll be willing to bet with two identical cars, one with c16 and one with alky, there's not gonna be a whole lot of diff. in power or qtr mile times. i'll always have alky in the bottle, period! you always gonna have c16 in your fuel tank? and i'm not talking about when you're just racing. EVERYDAY even during daily driving. so poke fun at alky all you want, but for everyday street driving, it beats c16 hands down!

btw, i was laying in bed trying to fall asleep. i have to get up early but i can't fall asleep. i can't stop thinking about whether i should sell the damn evo or dump more money into it and get it up over 600 whp. cause if i do it, it aint gonna be for a hundred more ponies. damn i hate this car!

ray first of all if you get a stock evo & i mean stock evo to run faster than a high 13 up here i will give you $50 g-tech is about as good as al telling me i have a 11 second car on pump gas & 20psi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was in no way trying to be a dick i'll i'm saying is race gas works better & is more consistant than alcohol injection... you guys act like race gas is so spendy how many times have you raced (or even driven your car)so far with your alkykit?? one time?? that 5 gallons of race gas=40 bucks doesn't seem like that much too me. again i'm not being a dick i'm just telling you what i think about the subject!!!!

i agree with you about race gas being more consistent.

i have filled my car up 6 times now. i have used maybe 3 gallons of alky. it cost about 7.50 a gallon. lets just say when i fill up it's about 10 gallons. 6x10= 60 gals x 5bux (guessing) for c16 = 300 bux . with 91... 2.25 x 60= 135+22.50 for alky= 157.5

and yes this includes autox in dover for two days. oneday i was racing a lot (it was a test and tune day) the other day 8 total runs. the rest of my driving is a lot under boost where the alky is being used

if i could run race gas for the same price as alky all the time, of course i would opt for that instead. fyi when i go do track days in socal, i plan on running straight c16 when i'm on the track.

How many drums of C-16 could you have bought for the price of the Alcohol kit????

As for a car on c-16 vs. a car running alcohol injection, If it were a dynoflashed car I could see it being close, but a car running a standalone, with a lot of mods, my money would always be on the car running race gas.

the c16 will eventually run out...alky unless it breaks will always be there.

i'm not arquing that race gas isn't better. i know it is. cost vs. perf. diff is what i care about. it's not a night and day diff. it's like the tme vs. stock turbo. not your turbo vs stock turbo. no way

You do know the rear end for the USDM is basically the VIII's rear end, right? That rear diffuser isn't coming here
