Utah Evos
Hey mister exotic, I need an alignment so why don't you fly back and help me out

P.S. I have a set of Victoracers, and i love them, they leave nice black streaks on my garage ceiling when I put them away, couldn't say how they work on asphault though.....

i'll be there in a month or so...
but if you wanna do it yourself, it's really easy (for someone like you not jake
) you just need to buy a camber gauge (around 200 bux) and a tape measure. It's actually more accurate than any rack. It's what i started doing so i could make changes during an event. I'll just give you the specs...but if you really want me to do it, if i have time when i'm there, i will.
As for the Victos, you'll love them!

BTW, all you guys that used warrtalons name, you need to go back and delete it. He probably uses the search function (since he loves it so much) and searches for his own name.... he's narcissistic like that.

The best mod for Autoxing is.... TIRES! The best right now are the Kumho V710s, next would be Hoosiers A3S05 but they are about to release a new compound since they got their butts kicked by Kumho two years in a row now (they're not use to that). A great tire that's inexpensive is the Kumho VictoRacers. They work great especially for the money. Only thing i don't like about them is that they are a little heavy. You can do all the mods you want (power mods, suspension mods) but if you don't have a good tire you're not gonna win against somebody that does with similar driving skills as you.
As for springs, yes they will help but it all depends on the spring rates you go with. It's not just about lowering the the overall ride heighth. Tho the Evo doesn't feel like it has a lot of body roll, IT DOES! A stiffer spring will take SOME of that roll away. Putting together a good combo spring rate, front and rear, will make drastic improvements on the way the car handles. But keep in mind a good alignment will also make the car better. The factory settings are terrible for autoxing. Adjustment from that alone will shave time off your runs...
Anyway, if you are seriously into autoxing , let me know. I'll give you the setup that i ran and liked... not that i was any good. Just trying to give some tech info since Zach was on our case.

oh and btw, what class you gonna run in? If you do springs it'll throw you outta stock.
Your choices would be:
AS - Very limited in mods you can do. mainly just tires and lighter wheels but the size (wheels) has to be stock and the backspace has to be within 1/4". Your only comp will be Gonzo in his STi (he's pretty good)
ESP - More mods like suspension, any wheel and tire combo. But you're limited into what you can do for power. check your scca rule book cause i think some things have changed. Even the class i thought might be moved into BSP this year but i'm not sure. Your only comp might be Doug in his Mustang GT (he's REALLY good but he said he'll probably not race this year)
SM - Pretty much any mod you wanna do (for the most part). Sorry, no offense, but fat chance you'll finish top 5. The drivers in this class are pretty awesome! But if you want real competition, this is the class to be in. There are usually 20 guys running at each event. I've seen almost 35 a couple of times. We had our own run group.

Thanks for all the good info! I'm friends with Matt Guiver and he has taught me a lot about this stuff and told me all about your crazy evo that you had and that no matter how much $$ I dump into it, it comes down to skills first. (I'm sure you have skills
SM is what I was in last season and had a blast because most of the people I know are in that class. Ya they have skills to say the least. But I took an FTD on a Saturday series, and finished with pretty decent times the rest of the season. I contribute most of that to Ethan and Matt.
Anyways, thanks again for the help!
So you're the one with the Evo Matt told me about. If you're gonna have anyone instruct you from Utah, you have probably two of the best. Matt is a complete natural and can drive anything well no matter what it is...FWD, AWD or RWD. Ethan is the master of FWD but is also good with AWD. He's a little aggressive though, but that's what i like about him.
Both are very good "instructors". They explain things real well and will take the time to teach you. But just watch out for E, he likes to do 360's. Just ask him.

If you're gonna run in SM and think you'll keep at it for awhile and get serious with it, i'd get a good set of coilovers. I like the JIC's but i got them with spring rates i liked and not just their "street" setup even tho that's pretty good too. With most decent coilovers, they come with front camber plates. This in itself is a great suspension mod cause you can't get enough negative camber out of the stock front camber adjusters. If you're just gonna do it for fun here and there, i'd for sure go with a good set of springs. Pretty much any brand out there is good, it's just about getting the right spring rate combo that you'd like. Only other suspension mod that's worth it for autoxing is a rear swaybar. Cusco or Hotchkis are pretty good. I think Hotchkis is cheaper. I had both and was happy with either.
You called me before i moved and asked about an alignment? $hit, i don't even remember that. But if you did talk to me i bet was an a$$hole at the time. Sorry if i was. I had sooo much stuff going on and my head was somewhere in outer space.
As for your setup, you need to tell me what you think the car is doing and what you want it to do. Evo's are notorious for understeering but some people never notice it cause they don't drive them hard enough. If you are, it's very simple to make it more neutral or make it oversteer more just with the alignment settings. It all depends on what you like. But alignment setups for autoxing are not friendly for street wear (tires) unless you drive hard all the time. If your name is ROB, an aggressive setup is fine but if your name is SCOTT, it wouldn't be a good idea. $hit actually if your name was SCOTT, your car would never leave the garage so why bother!

Anyway, let me know. And FWIW, Matt can do your alignment for you. Just tell him i said he would.

hey, i was just messin with ya.
btw, yes on the 264/264 since you're not a drag racer. otherwise go with the 280s!
I pretty much followed that for my cars upgrades: Espelir GT Springs (stiffest available spring), Works Camber Plate/Pillowball Mounts (to get more negative camber), Progress 25mm adjustable Sway Bar, and this year some r-compounds
