Hells yeah snagga!!! If you decide to go the custom exhaust route, if you're interested, I'll hook you up with an excellent shop down here. I just had them repair my exhaust, and now it is better than it was when I first got it and it has hangers on it like it should've when it was made in the first place!

ps, it's all about the super long quoted posts/triple posting FTW!

I'm telling ya - for the cost of that single nvidia tbe you could get cams, a flash and and an exhaust. Your money = your party but the tone and sound you get is pretty much all on the muffler and the presence or lack thereof of a cat and resonator. Big companies would like to have you believe that there was much "engineering" and R and D but its piping. They all pick the same amounting of piping and they all basically look very much the same. The concept is simple: straight as possible, minimizing bends. There's the 900.00 in R and D right there. Would you pay extra money for a more scientifically engineered garden hose? I wouldn't - basically the same thing. If you go to a local shop and have it done you are also circumventing the whole "well I only buy american products" argument which is pretty retarded to say while tacking it on to a mitsubishi. I can pretty much assure you that the gains to be had on going with a big name exhaust are minimal at best and can easily be overcome with the mods you can afford to do with the car having saved the money on your exhaust.

Basically, I agree. Especially in the case of exhaust systems, even more so if your custom home grown built exhaust is made of the same material as the 900 exhaust... for less. At that point, all you're missing is a name brand slapped on the tip, and if you like paying more for name brands, you won't last long in the "real" world.

But, using the garden hose example, I'd much rather pay double to buy a garden hose that's been more scientifically engineered to never get kinks, that is guarenteed to never tear or cut, will fit perfect in any "hose" system, and instead of being round when there is no pressure have it go flat... When your 20 dollar garden hose is tearing apart and leaking, my 40 dollar garden hose will still be washing my car, so who really paid more?

I've purchased both types of hoses and the difference is negligible - so long as the hose is well cared for. But - I'm not much of a gardner and for many reasons my example can be picked apart.

What does still stand is that exhaust is essentially exhaust. You may well be better served taking the money you saved by going the custom route and buying parts where the name brand can and does matter - cams/tune etc. So long as the custom setup is using high quality components, the difference will be minimal, and your wallet will be like...way huge.

lol hey lets not drag this on to each his own. Trust me I've been doing this for 10yrs now starting with hondas...omg that makes me sound really old. Bottom line I prefer not to take any shortcuts on my car. And does your custom exhaust look this pretty?

When I talk about exhaust BTW I talk about turbo back so I like to have a good dp & catback and if I can get all that in good product along with a test pipe to fill the gaps I like that

Also we are all driving 20-30k+ cars so some ppl can afford stuff and some can't so again to each his own
