I wonder how many cars they did this test on. And if the results were repeatable.

I'm also curious to see how the gains look like on a modded car.

Hmm... I wonder how the max bore will do cause I really like mine
I don't remember how the stock TB felt but I do recall being butt dyno happy when I got the max bore.

"bone stock"

... does that mean no P2?

Is there a P2 mod for a TB only?
Is there a P2 mod for a TB w/3"TBE only?

Thanks! Good info!

Difference I noticed at Sears Pt going from stock TB and downpipe-back exhaust to TB + full TBE (catless in both cases):
- smoother continuous pull in the upper rev-range

Basically it made the car feel a bit more like a well tuned NA car in the upper rev-range (which is why I could pass E46 M3s).

Shall I guess your mod list is/was 3"TBE, P2, and TB or would there be more on that list? Thanks!

Well I dynoed yeserday and I made a few peak hp less than when I had the stock throttle body. That sucks, but the hp and tq lines smoothed out and I did pick up about a few hp between 3-4000rpm. After 4000rpm, the hp and tq remained almost identical to my last dyno run but had slightly less numbers. This could be from numerous variables, but all in all I am happy with the aperture, but probably wouldn't buy one again unless I was hard pressed for wanting to buy something for the car.

Bottom Line from my experience with the Aperture is this

1. smoother power delivery
2. picked up a little on the low end
3. lost a little on the high end (I have no idea why)
4. peak numbers fell

After reading my post, I just want to clarify that the runs were done on different days with different octanes? 94 vs 93. Also to note, I have logged about 5000 miles since my last dyno and my most recent dyno, so that could account for the slight decrease in peak numbers. All in all the aperture has given me a smoother power delivery and should help in the long run once I start adding more mods.

In case you can't read the text, stock peak was 229WHP vs. 237WHP and there is smoothness over the dips.

Judging by the run numbers, there are 37 dyno pulls between those two runs.

I'm not sure why you are posting in our forum but yes, my HP scientific calculator confirms your math. 60 enter, 23 subtract, = 37

I wish our R&D procedure here at WORKS was not as tedious and thorough either. You should have seen how crazy the rest of the day was!
But we have to do it properly or not do it at all.

We all appreciate your thoroughness of your testing but what about the other 37 runs that aren't revealed? That is, what makes you compare run 23 to run 60? And not two consecutive runs, one with and one without the bigger TB? Being pretty methodical myself when it comes to dyno testing, I dont understand your approach and how it truly does the best job in demonstrating the gains of the upgraded TB. Especially when run to run variance on a stock car is greater than the differenc you claim for the TB. Thank you for not deleting my question this time.

Regards,
shiv

We tested 5 different product configurations that day and would love to give you the play by play for every run with our notes and data.

We have never deleted your questions. In fact as a general rule we don't delete threads and posts like some 'others' do because we have nothing to hide. We sleep well at night.

The moderators have repeatedly deleted competitors posts in our forum in the past because they believe it is inappropriate as do we.
That is why you better hurry and get your jabs in before...

That's all we have to say. Please let us get back to our customers and doing R&D. We simply don't have the time.
