So why is the 70 mm downpipe more $$$ than the 76mm?

The 76mm piping is more common and, therefore, less expensive. Because of the "rarity" of the 70mm piping, it is more expensive. (The 70mm DP used to be a lot more, but we've finally found a reasonable source on the raw materials.)

for the dp's with the coating, would adding a thermal wrap on the section of the dp that sits near the acd add extra protection? beneficial in the long run? or is it unnecessary?

i'm thinking about jumping on the group buy, but thinking of getting a p2r flash first. gotta save up for a wedding and can only spend so much at one time without getting caught

The thermal wrap on a coated pipe may add a little more, but the coating itself does a pretty good job of keeping radiant heat contained. Although I haven't tried this myself, a customer reported back that during a track day he came in after a run session, let the car sit for 20 minutes and was able to touch the DP with his bare hand withough fear of burning Not something I condone, but gives testament to its abilities.

Thermal wrap needs to be replaced eventually, correct?

Is the sale still on?

Correct on the thermal wrap as it is just like any other cloth and will eventually wear with abrasion (i.e. road debris).

Officially, the sale has ended. Give us a call and ask nicely and we can probably make an exception

I plan to do that also cause I really like Works DP. I know they have a good quality piece, that fits well and comes ceramic coated but $450 is big bucks when compared to say TTP's dp for like $165...
