Anyway the reason I ask is that when I had my WRX, I was running a VF23 turbo and a Prodrive ECU, and had several different aperature-size brass restrictors to experiment with. What I found was the restrictor size had some impact to boost, but much more impact to boost spikes and spool-up characteristics. The ProDrive ECU came with a bigger restrictor than stock, but this grey market ECU was pushing boost spikes of over 20psi (yikes!!)then settling to 18 psi in cold weather.

Re-installing the stock restrictor with the Pro Drive ECU resulted in spikes in the mid 18psi range, but still settled to a held boost in the high 17psi range. So the result was slightly less(or more depending on which way you go)held boost in the .5 psi range, but the change in boost spikes was much more dramatic with a swing of about 2psi.

Sorry for running off-topic, but I have been wondering about that restrictor comment since I saw it a while back.

Jeff
Boost does rise to a little over 21 psi, then it will "settle" to 19 to 19.5 psi. I used the term rise vs. spike since it seems to follow a simular curve as before only a few psi higher...

David,

Are you currently offering a 93 octane reflash? If so, when will #'s be available? I'm curious because I have seen a few post now of people sending you thier ecu's for this reflash but I haven't heard about it from Works yet other than it's in the process of being done but not completed yet.

DavidV, could you please address my questions? Here they are again:

Assuming you have control over the boost solenoid, the reflash alone could (on an otherwise totally stock car) raise boost levels beyond stock.

So, does the reflash you offer have authority over the boost control solenoid? And if so, what boost levels were run with the 91 octane dyno chart you posted?

The boost is not held only at 19 psi, but varies, much like the stock set-up. DavidV

Thanks for reposting that, but "not held only at 19 psi" is not the answer I am looking for. That's too nebulous.

I'm asking a very simple question. The boost level during the dyno chart was... what? If it varied, how did it vary-- 22 psi in the midrange and 19 psi at redline? 20 psi across the board? or what?

Just by reading the post, "Works" does not seem to answer the questions firmly! Some of his answers tend to be very misleading.

Like the boost issue...

Not misleading, just vague. I understand the secrecy somewhat because right now they have the corner on the market. But in the future I think they will have to come off some more info to (convince people to use them) maintain their lead in the flash market. They will have rmr, vishnu and more to compete with. Vishnu is very good about educating their customers. I consider that the highest form of customer service.

Boost follows the factory design and does not exceed the factory peak, but the ECU mapping holds more power to the car's higher rev limit.

Well, truth be told, we're not all that worried about competing with anyone. We offer an excellent performance tuning program and feel that the products speak for themselves. I'm sure some of our users would be happy to share their impressions, observations and thoughts on the WORKS Brain Flash.

It is just that the people that are going to get the flash want to know more details about what exactly is changed and what info you have discovered while tuning. But if you guys let that info out, the competition will know also. People are putting their faith in a company, people, product that they know very little about. I'm sure over time, the results will speak for themselves, but right now people have lots of questions.
