Stock EVO 8: P1 or P2?

K&N Filter would be the only non-stock item throughout. The possibility of enhancing "exhale" through the next few years of the car's life is minimal to non-existent.

Which if either of the P1 vs. P2 makes sense?

Any experienced users have any comments - and, of course, Dave?

Thanks!

Go straight to P2, its a little more work to install than P1 but has the added advantage of constant max boost to redline.

P2 - no question about it. Think of the P2 as a better enhanced version of the P1. (with more power)

Do you speak from experience with P2 and stock Evos?

Thanks!

Definetly go with the P2. I had the P1 and P2 and find the P2 to be better, stock or otherwise.

Both the standard Brain Flash (P1) and P2 each represent terrific values, and are both near impossible to beat as far as bang-for-the-buck goes. With either of the Brain Flash mods, you get exceptional performance, bulletproof reliability/repeatability, and improved gas mileage in a 100% stealth mod.

What do you mean by stealth mod? Dealer can not detect?

Basically that is true - yes. Some other vendors are offereing piggy-back systems that you have to wire into your ECU.

With the WORKS reflash option - they plug directly into your ECU, hit some buttons, and the magic is done! With the P2, there is one extra step, you have to switch a wastegate hose. Externally it looks exactly like the stock one - so it cannot be detected. Inside the hose is the difference.

(get the P2)

So when the settings in the ECU are changed and you go to the dealer and they hook up their diagnostic equipment - surely they will see that the factory settings have changed?

Nope. The dealer's diagnostic equipment does not detect the Brain Flash.

Why for how come isn't there quantitive data for us linear thinking types to consider before we dole out the cash. Come on guys take a couple of cars to the track and lets see some data. Works, why not sponsor an event that is safe and sane for your customers. You do not have to launch or abuse your car to generate meaningful data. Peak hp figures are a fools game, it's total power over the entire RPM range between shifts that gets the job done. The p2 looks great on paper but let's see more than anecdotal proof so that those of us who think can make informed decisions.
