Here at WORKS, we have engineered the lift on the 269 cams to be approximately .25" on the intake cam and .23" on the exhaust cam.

however, keep in mind that our measuring method is different from the way that some other companies measure there cams. Simply comparing quoted lift specs is not a good way to tell which cam has the higher lift, due to the varying methods of measurement. (When we measured other brands cams they came out different than what they are claiming)

In that case, what is the lift of HKS cams with your measuring method? How does your lift compare to the lift of HKS cams? HKS measures 10.8mm(.43") intake and 10.2mm(.40") exhaust.

And do you happen to know what the stock lift and duration is?

Damn good questions kam. I already have the p2, intake, and turbo back. I want cams next, but am torn between HKS 264 and WORKS. I wish they would give out a little more info .

I'm going to get the HKS cams in couple weeks. On the surface they appear to have a higher lift. Works is saying they have a different measuring method (??), but its like pulling teeth to get a decent answer out of them so someone can make a comparison. So, I'm just going to have to assume the lift on the HKS are higher like they appear to be.

Kam,
I don’t think you can go wrong with the HKS cams.

I got the HKS 272 / 272 last month and they top notch.

My dilemma is that I will need a re-tune of the ecu after cams. If I get works cams the tune is free, but I don't know how they will perform. I know the HKS will make good reliable power, but I will still need a tune. I wonder if the works cam flash would be good with hks cams?

Dude..... max lift is max lift - I know your cams have more than 6mm of lift?? I think that you are getting advertised duration numbers confused with lift, duration is sometimes measured differently by different manufacturers - not lift. All lift numbers should be measured at the valve....

A friend of mine runs the HKS 272s with a P2 and it works just fine. Tell them you have the 272 cams and they will give you the appropriate reflash.

Are they not good at idle or what???

...you can't pass a smog check out here with 'em, hence the "not for street use" disclaimer.

Nope, Idle is ridiculously close to stock....I'd be surprised with the ac off and the car warms up you'll even notice you have any variation in idle compared to stock. You just get a mean sounding car =) They label it as off road since it's not carb exempted yet so you shouldn't be running them on the road =D

I'm sure you could get a reflash to pass smog.

Is that what *For competition use only means?? I posed that question in another thread here earlier today.

If we're not in Calif - is it not a problem then??
