Need some help with a Mivec issue?!?!
Anyone have any mivec issues with there cars? For some reason i think my mivec isnt functioning as it should at higher rpms. The car has the say issue last year and we replaced the cam sensor and the problem went away. Now after hours of playing around with the mivec again it seems as if its not working.
Basically car was down on power last year due to the mivec sensor and the mivec not working. When the sensor was replaced the car picked up 110whp. Now im back with the same issue and the car is down on power again.
Mods are:
Built 2.0L
Ported Head with 1mm oversize valves, dual springs, retainers, gsc lifters
DI intake mani
Double pumper -8 feed -6 return
FIC 1650s
STM FF 3586
AEM standalone
We replaced both cam sensors, mivec solenoid, mivec cam gear, swapped AEMs, and still doesnt work. Car is good compression, ZERO boost leaks, AEM is synced correctly, Cam timing is 100%.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Been a while since I was on here, hence the late reply. The dealer, or competent specialist will have the equipment to check to see if the Mivec is working or not....I was told mine wasn't when I had it mapped, it was subsequently shown to be fine when checked on the MUT. The problem was resolved when I replaced a faulty boost solenoid.
Is the car making target boost?

You have an AEM Standalone.
Plug a Laptop in and check your mivec angle and see if it's working.
You could have a broken wire so changing sensors will do nothing.
This could have been why replacing your sensor worked a while ago, you could have jiggled the partially broken wire, and now it's actually broken.

the car doesnt use the OEM boost solenoid becuase it has an AEM instead of Stock ECU

Is it low on power throughtout the rpm? Only reason I ask is because I have the same problem which I believe is mivec related... From 7.5k, my horsepower begins to dip and at 8.5k the power comes back up continues where it left off from at 7.5k... I lose 100whp in between 7.5k and 8.5k.. My graph looks like a U in between 7.5k and 8.5k... its so weird..

its been awhile since i read it. its on here somewhere. no idea why personally but i would assume if the mivec tries to advance/retard timing the tensioner being broke would put the timing out of the range til oil pressure adjusts. idk i'm barely grasping the concept of how mivec works. i just remember everything i read or hear and thought i would help with an idea.
