I consider myself Mechanically Inclined, I've never change a clutch in my life, the evo was the first, on my back on jack stands ! Crossmember out, the whole 9..<br /><br />I've never built a engine but I'm doing it now.<br />I don't mind learning so that I can help myself and others in general.<br />Besides I don't have money like that to pay dealership or Evo shop, so I kinda didn't have a choice.<br />The only tools I have are a 300 piece craftsman set, a snap on torque wrench, 4 floor Jack's, and a lot of random pieces of wood !<br /><br />Just like life, I'll figure it out..

Oh, it's not carbon. It's a sealant. It should be on the back of the throttle plate and inside of the TB. If you remove it, you will get a ton of air passing through and the car will have a tough time idling correctly.
Sorry, It was hard to see the pic while driving LOL. I can see it better now. And yes: clean on both sides is not good.
