Removing spoiler: electrical cable?

Hey guys, quick question: how do you remove the electrical cable running to the third brake light? I tried it today with the nuts/bolts off, and it wouldn't go with a moderate pull. I don't want to pull too hard and mess it up. Has anyone here done this? Thanks.

Hey i just put on my evo 8 spoiler. taking off the stock spoiler was a breeze. just take off the 4 bolts under the trunk. then on the passener side is where the cord goes in to power the third brake light. you can unplug in up where the wires are near the emergency open latch is. when unpluged it all slides out!. good luck.

I don't think you are talking about the electrical cable holding it down.. are you? They use a sticky foam stuff that holds the spoiler down to the car. Use some dental floss or fishing line to go underneath it and release the glue stuff.. then use bug and tar remover to get the sticky crap off once you pull of the spoiler. My OZ rally had a little plug inside the car that disconnected the brake light on the spoiler, then the cable just pulls out the little hole.

i did the evo spoiler swap, there are no left over holes. you just have to drill 2 new holes and use 2 original holes and its all perfect!

no it uses 2, the far rear hole and then a hole at the top wich must be drilled. the middle original hole is not used and it completely covered when the evo 8 spoiler is put on.

if i did a spoiler swap, can i cover up that extra hole with a piece of tape since the spoiler covers it already?

yeah, he is right there is no point. The evo wing will cover up the stock holes. I have had the wing on my car for almost a year with no leaks. If you want to waste your time putting tape on the holes go ahead.
