I bought one of these tools thinking it would be the end all of valve tools...
I got much more accuracy using a screwdriver and an open end 10mm

Crans, hasn't one of the 4g69 engine builders on the eclipse site posted a video?

Interesting. Ah, worth a shot.

AdamRA, did you use the bent-end feeler gauges or straight ones? I only have straights.

Cranswick, if you want to try it this winter let me know, we can use warm shop if it's too snowy out. Else wait till spring when I check mine? Hey, what am I saying, aren't you stateside until the spring?

I used straight ones the first time, bought angled for the next time. The intake side is the worst.... even with angled.

Has anyone found a video on how to do the valve lash? Im planning to do it this weekend while I have my valve cover off. So I was wanting to see as much of it as I can before I try this for the first time.

I've been reading this whole thread cause im planning a DIY valve adjustment, but i have the RRM Pulley and did not put a mark or notch on it. So now how do i find out if my timing mark is good, because i know i have to crank the pulley til it hits timing mark? Any help.

So when i do my valve lash i dont have to worry about lining up the crank pulley? Just adjust to specs? Kinda confused i thought i had to turn the engine or something?

the crank sprocket behind the pulley sets crank timing...as the crank pulley is installed after and outside of the lower timing cover...there may be timing marks on the rrm pulley, but i wouldn't even go by that. you would be wise to use the timing mark on the cam gear to find top dead center for number 1 piston...always turn the motor clockwise, and pull out the spark plugs for two reasons; 1. hand cranking is easier cause there's no compression, and 2. you can visually verify TDC.

I will be attempting this procedure tomorrow.

Just this part was my first initial worry: "Turn it CLOCKWISE by hand until the timing mark on the pulley lines up with the "T" on the timing cover. (Hope you guys with Joe's pulley put some kind of mark on yours before installing it, like I did)".

But since u said to go by the cam gear i will do that instead. Thanks again, i will keep it updated on how things go.
