Recomendations for a new CD Player HU

I'm in the market for a new Head Unit. I want something with awesome EQ control, DETACHABLE FACE PLATE (a must), and preferably a red display (or one that has adjustable display colors, i've seen some of those).

Just lookin for recomendations as to what brands are quality and reliable (Model names and #s if ya got em). I'm lookin to drop around $200-$300 for something that'll last and has awesome sound quality

Alpine matches up with just about all of that, except perhaps the display color. Check out the 9851 or 9853 (variable display color?). I have last year's model these decks, and I love it. It's a bit above $300, but well worth it.

JVC LH-810 or LH-910 can be adjusted to the cars gauges.

I think i'm going to get the LH-810.

to get EQ control you are going to jump your price range a bit. or find a deal.

Kenwood KDC-MP828, Alpine CDA-9855 or Pioneer DEH-P80MP are my recommendations.

you cant go wrong with an alpine, but pioneer makes some quality units as well....just go to circuit city, they will price match plus 10% of your best competitors price...and free install

I found this one. It can use an iPod adapter (which is clutch for me)

any thoughts? It's $250 and the iPod adapter is $100. Which is OK cause I just got a $355 vacation pay check from when I quit Wal-Mart AND it has 4 illumination colors! weee haha

$100 for an ipod adapter.... your crazy. I had my buddy who works at Magnolia Hi-Fi just hook up an auxilary cable ($10) to the back of my deck and we just ran it up through my ash tray. It can be pulled out all the way to the middle back seat and retracts all the way back in so you can close the ash tray when not using.
He also hooked me up with a $1600 all-Alpine systen for $1000 . But hope it works out good for ya...
