i already know that i can mate it with the 4g69 tranny! that was the original idea, but we have changed it to evo awd set up! this way there will not be soo much wheel hop, better traction! i have a lot of srt-4, and cobalt ss, and sti to show up!

I was just wondering, I'd prefer the awd myself. I just want to know how much of the outlander rear is the same as the lancers. It would be alot easier than redoing everything out of an evo onto a base or ra lancer

well, the awd rear from the outlander is totally different from the lancers hence its awd=rear diff.

but as for adding in the awd from the outlander (2003-2005) to the lancer -> the front is straight swap. the rear is more difficult when comes the rear diff cause the crossmember on the lancer is welded on, and need to figure out how u want to go about replacing it with the outlanders. (welding or what not), if adding the outlander awd system it is best to use it with the 4g69 engine, since thats what its meant for.

as for the evo it will be exactly the same process. the reason why im using the evo is cause im...

1. taking the engine
2. would rather have the awd system that is meant for it rather than mix matching the engine and tranny.

I really wish it was like an eclipse, after you remove the rear sub frame, you put new longer bolts in and bolt up the new awd sub frame.

Brilliant! sounds like another great project AWD sounds the way to go...
Unless of course you do what they did in tokyo drift !
You should be able to - disconnect the front wheels to be RWD

Always thought this car would be way cooler if rear wheel drive
Nissans fill the drift comps because of that, how cool would it be if it was an RA

Exciting project for sure though!
Very expensive to do I imagine?
Oh well, its worth it if you think of the result and the uniqueness!

how much are you spending on making it AWD if you dont mind me asking? The reason i ask is because i have thought about doing this and wondered how much it would cost.

(engine and awd and install) im looking at $6000. im buying a salvage evo, transporting it to canada, striping it, swapping, measuring etc. it will be a fun project. (with the help of diavlo on msn !) plus i might need to spend a few $ here and there for other things but dont know yet until i start

nice, those are the pics I want to see. Which drivers side motor mount are you going to use? I've heard that you can use an outlander mount, maybe the ra mount or you can weld in the evo mount to where the mount bolts to the area beside the strut area. Sorry, I don't know the name to call it.
