A tire is a tire, rubber is rubber. Go burnout your street tires for about 2 minutes and stick your finger in the tread. Heat softens rubber.

Yea I saw the DIY post about filling the front motor mount.. I dont know if I want to do this or not. Do they make inserts for us yet? Yes, next trip to the track will be with solid front mount and nitrous. I expect low 14s. I'll keep y'all updated.

He's right. Street tires + burnout = glazing your tires up and at worst flat spotting them. Why? Street tires supposed to dissipate heat quickly.

Slicks need burnout to warm them up and hold its heat. Cold slicks = not a good idea . . . look at NASCAR and CART/IRL.

The next thing on my list to buy is drag radials.. so I'll be sure to post the results.

Yes, not all rubber is created equal- otherwise you wouldn't be considering drag radials

RRM sells filled motormounts, but they're expensive (sold as a pair for $289). Deyeme Racing also sells them (seperately), for a lot less ($70 per mount, flex or firm), as long as the Ralliart ones are the same as the 2.0L ones (I think the back mount is the same, but not sure about the front one). I don't know anything about the quality of the Deyeme ones.

Deyeme also sells a urethane (flex or firm) that is supposed to work better than window weld.

the 2.0 and 2.4 front mount is different. and a burnout on a street tire is pretty useless, but just for a sec is good to clean off any dust/debris on the tires. heating wont do jack except kill life.

btw, went to the 'track' tonight. raced an RWD 96' benz c280 v6 2.8L /w some modest work done. it puts out just under 200hp.

we went from a 35 roll. i started in 3rd, he started in 2nd (we both coulda been down a gear. about 3k rpms. we <3 our clutches). anyway, first gear, we are neck and neck, 2nd gear, i pull a bit at the end. about 3/4 of a length. 3rd gear (4th for him, 5th for me) and he makes up for it. then goes to take me over at about 120 mph by about 1/2 a length. good race considering it was a bigger engine from a 35 roll! he was suprised, as was I =)

gonna go from a dig next week. he has a 6.5sec 60' and i (and my tires) suck at the launch so it should be good.
