Performance Part Review
RRM engine timing control box
Amazing. Really good bang for the buck. Very noticable through entire range, extremely once in MIVEC. Plug and play install in 2 minutes, very easy. Note: must run 89 octane or higher

Glad it works for you good to see the results. You have the timing control and the piggyback?
No piggy yet. Just CAI, UDP, HEADER/DP, and CB exhaust, and now the timing control box. But this new part really complimented these mods. IMO it was the most noticable mod so far.
You don't really mess with any wires. Just a couple plugs. You unplug the harness from the MAP sensor and throw the control box inbetween, plugging one end into the MAP sensor and the other end into the harness.
RRM Timing Box: Best mod so far! Great improvement when mivec kicks in. Cheap and easy to install. Comes with instructions for 08+ lancer (temporarily?) which made me believe I'd received the incorrect item, though you shouldn't need instructions to install this anyways.
OBX Header/Down pipe: Good price, easy install although stock bolts on the stock cat may be an issue removing. Improved top end gains. I ran the header without a high flow cat and DID NOT find it too loud, though exhaust tone is higher pitch then stock. Sounded better after working the down pipe in (wasn't "as" high pitch). Fuel economy did not change when running no cat. Looks nice under the hood, though changed purplish (and remains so) after roughly 6 months of use. Hangs a little low so lowered vehicles beware. Note: CEL did come on - just bought rrm CEL fix and it should rid this issue.
Magnaflow 14829 Muffler: Build quality good, sounds amazing (with OBX header and no cat), and priced very decently. Requires exhaust to be modified for install, this can be done your self if you can weld, or I assume fairly cheaply at an exhaust shop. With OBX header sounds quite nice; a deep toned sound, not too loud. Surprisingly exhaust ( OBX header, catless, highflow muffler ) was girlfriend approved! Not much to say in terms of gains for this item.
RRM Underdrive Pulley: Good first upgrade! Cheap, and nice gains; you can really feel a difference in low/mid power. Headlights dim when car is idling. Does not affect sound system; I've run 1600 watts RMS with big-3 done to car and never had issues.
Install may be better suited for a mechanic, though takes roughly 30-45 minutes if you know what your doing.
RRM Piggyback: Takes a good understand to really use this item to its full potential. Allows you to benefit more from each part you acquire. Install isn't too bad - if you have wired a car deck properly ( properly doesn't include just the use of electrical tap! ) this shouldn't be too hard. It can be a little overwhelming when you see the number of wires ( and the cost of a new ECU if you screw up ) but guides can be found on mitsunation.net and evolutionm.net with images to help. Overall a nice mod; rrm map gave my car a good amount of power when mivec kicked in with sri and underdrive pulley at the time when I first got the piggyback.
Side notes: with said modifications my fuel economy has risen to roughly 500-520 kms to a tank ( mix of highway + city ) when driving like a wiener. Car sounds great, and I've had no issues thus far. I'm planning to get the RPW stage 1 camshaft this summer and hope to have a review up for that item soon.
