Exclamation 2.4L MIVEC Header Development Info...

Today, while bored at work I decide to give two companies a call. I jump on the computer and got the numbers for DC Sports R&D and Kamikaze. I called DC Sports first and talk to a very nice guy named Chris. I ask Chris about a header being in development or if it's being thougth about for the 2.4L MIVEC engine. He said, it's been look at (the header) but hasn't been a priority and hasn't been in development I told him I was located in southern california and be willing to drop of the car. I gave him my name, cell phone and email and he told me he call me back tommorow or friday for a schedule time and drop off (he was working in the shop when I call him). So, im keeping my fingers cross.

Than I called Kamikaze and spoke to a guy name Rick. I ask if a header for the 2.4L MIVEC was in the works or if it was done, and he replied "No, only the 2.0 Lancer Oz". I said "Wasn't there one in production before" and he had no idea to his knowledge. Anyways, he ask if I would want to drop of my car for test fitting (mule) on a header and of course I said YES! He ask the size and I told him "2.4L MIVEC" and he said "2.4L? not 2.0... that's a pretty big motor". He than ask for my name, number and email address for a schedule time. He told me I have to pay a $100 first, drop off the car (they'll need it for no more than 2days) and then they'll do the fitting, meausurments etc. He ask when can I drop it off and I said doesn't matter, just give me a time and he said he'll have to check back with me on a day and time. I was kinda about the $100 fee to have my car mule and test fitted, but... whateva. Ill just await his call.

Both companies were very happy that I was located in so cal, because alot of RA owners that call are no where near so cal. I would really like to see a Race Header from DC Sports similar to the RSX Type-S Race Header, they make alot of power from a DCRH! Before anybody says "Our stock header is fine, no need to upgrade" The tech at DC said, "we look at it, IT can be improve"

Ill keep you guys updated.

Hope something comes out as a complete package, Im sure it can be improved but maybe the gian is not worth the money. If they could make a total package like header+downpipe that would be awsome. I'm quite confident that rrm has looked into a header but felt that the downpipe is where the bottleneck of the exhaust is.

A DC sports exhaust would be nice too you should see if they are willing to make one. Either way it would be nice to have a header choice even though it might not make much of a gain, unless it the race header.

If they go through with this, see if they'll do a header/dp combo, where it's all one piece, rather than trying to mate a new header to the stock DP. Plus, if they do that, it'll mean that it'll work with all model years (since the 05's seem to have the 4:1 header, whereas the 04's have the 4:2 header)

Hmmm... I might be interested. As long as Kamikaze doesnt put that lame plaque welded onto their headers!!! LOL, I hate that thing!

Ive been told that the headers on the ralliart are fine as is and that get some aftermarket ones would be a waste of time.

who told me this: rock from road race, this is why they dont make headers for your car but they do make a down pipe, rock knows how to look at car parts and determine if they good or otherwise

just my two cents

^^^ Yes, rock told me that aswell in a previous conversation.

Still, the thought of "anything can be improved" just linger in my head. The reason why companies like DC Sports or Kamikaze haven't made one was because of demand. I told them the demand is there... we just need a test fitted car. I don't know much about our stock header... but how good is it? Do you think a race header by DC sports would actually perform worse, equal to a stock RA header? I mean, even 10whp is good.. and better than stock. More than just a 4-1 or 4-2-1, I would like a race header... which is significantly better than other headers.

a turbo header would be more interesting. alot of guys have been considering turboing the RA, but dont have access to an affordable turbo header

Our whole exhaust system is good from the factory... that's why we don't see much of a gain when we change anything... you need more air going in to have what's coming out make a difference... mitsu has pretty much maxed this car out unless you go fi... or go for the piggy for a small gain... but like it was said above every little bit helps... if you don't mind spending money on a couple horses...
