Your 1st O2 sensor location is in the same position as our Australian 2nd sensor.

Either way our systems will be updated to represent this.

Yes that will be good, I'd rather not have to drill a hole myself.

Any idea if this will bolt up to my stock exhaust? (from the pics I know they aren't the best)

Thanks for the replies......

From the pictures that AdamRA took, wouldn't we want to block the first sensor and the sensor in the cat for us 04 guys? It looks like you are going to add an O2 sensor location for our first sensor right? That means we need to plug the first one you have for the Australian spec Lancer and the one in the cat because the 04 guys have the 2nd O2 bung in the cat back section. So, we should only have 1 sensor in the header/dp/cat section. Am I right or am I totally off base here?

I'm getting confused with all this bung hole talk!!

Got the header/cat/flex pipe today. This will not just bolt up either it looks to be about 6-8 inches short due to the 04 having a larger cat? I'll have to get the shop to install this for me, because I can't weld.

Also people with 04's will need an extra gasket and two bolts. Luckily I have extra bolts from when I bought the RRM downpipe, but no gasket hopefully they are easy to find(or maybe the shop will have one.... Other than that the quality of the header is great....along with the cat and flex pipe.

RPW didn't include the 02 Sensor plug they said they would put in.....again hopefully the shop will have one.

Are you absolutely positive on this? Mine had a hang up at the powder coater so I haven't got it yet. I thought someone would have mentioned this to RPW already. That's not good if it is because I was just hoping to rip the old stuff out and bolt the new stuff up.

Is there anywhere on the flex pipe that you can extend it? I'd like to make it fit so that I can take it off and put the stock back on if I need to.

Why do we need two bolts and an extra gasket?

The O2 sensor plug isn't a big concern, it would be nice to have one so that I didn't have to search for one though. So did it turn out that you only need a plug for one bung and our first sensor will work with the bung already in it?

Mitsiman, do you have any insite on these issues?

Since I don't want to take everything off and then find out it was to short I put it next to my stock dowpipe....thats when I noticed it is really short. The reason we need a gasket and two bolts is that the 04 didn't have a bolt on cat. They designed my cat with the hole in the cat near where the hangers are. BTW any idea where I can find an 02 sensor plug? Do you think shops have them?

Did you compare the flex pipe and cat combo by its self to the stock downpipe or did you compare the header, flex pipe, and cat combo to the stock downpipe. Just wondering because I know that the headers are long tube and wrap under the engine about 6 to 8 inches. Just making sure that's how you did it because the new header will replace a big part of the stock downpipe.

Anyway, you can go into any hardware store and buy a shorty bolt with the same thread pattern and just thread it in. That's what I'm planning to do if mine doesn't come with a plug. I would think an exhaust shop would carry those too but you never know.

I bolted it all together then set them side by side with the exhaust hangers side by side and it looks short on the catback side. I'll have another look....I guess mitsu changed the catback on the 05-06 also?

i'll put pictures of the whole thing lined up so you can see...... I think you will be able to see once I post a picture though as to why it won't fit.

So, would it be easier to extend the catback section or the downpipe? I really want it set up so I can switch to stock if need be. Yeah, I heard they switched it for the 05-06 models but I didn't think it was a length issue.

Yeah, put up some pics when you get a chance so that I know what I need to plan for.

You don't want to cut the downpipe, unless you didn't get it ceramic coated.

Here are the pictures.

the photos were great - now I can really see where there are some slight differences in the model vehicles. As you say there are some subtle differences in the RA model vheicles, other customers of the systems have not reported any shortage of the flex pipe but it must be the later model cars.

The gasket you are referring to - you shoudl e able to reuse your stock cat coverter to rear of exhaust system gasket again because they are a metal gasket and usually do not require replacing when used with some sealer. We rarely have to buy new gaskets for the cat converters when we fit them up here.

When you fit it up to your vehicle, make a short pipe with flanges on it to join it up to the stock exhaust system on your car. If you can do this, RPW will pay for the manfacturing of both short joiner pipes, (As long as it is a reasonable chagre of course) and your full model vehicle details, and we will include this as an option for future customers or may even make a new longer flex pipe for the different model vehicle.

The O2 sensor is no biggy - we will in all future productions be placing an O2 nut (Undrilled) for future USA customers before the cat converter. You will notice there is a second O2 sensor fitting in the rear of the supplied cat converter and also one at hte base of the headers as well.

Keep me up to date on how you go - but they certainly look nice and shiny

There is no gasket for the front of the cat because 04 have a welded cat(all part of the stock downpipe) The one at the cat-back will be fine. Do I have to buy a gasket from mitsu or are these avaiable at stores???

So the missing gasket you are referring to is the one between the cat converter we have supplied and the flex pipe? Hmm one shoudl have been supplied with the kit if that is the case. Yes a genuine mitsubishi one would do the job fine or just go to an exhaust shop and use a universal aftermarket replacement one.
