RRM Catback Exhaust?
RRM Catback Exhaust?
Anyone have it? If not i guess i'll be the first one to do a write up on it cause i'll be ordering it in a couple of weeks...
If you do have it, how was the install? Any gains? How much of a loss in lower rpm torque, and how much gains in the higher rpms? Did it throw a CEL? anything?
Thanks in advance

EDIT:
Hey rock, sorry about all the questions, but i was wondering i know with the axel backs certain models have certain bolt patters, is this the same with the catback or will that fit ALL 04-06 models??

Is the true reason yoy went with a 2.25" design is because Magnaflow has a muffler/tip combo already pre-made? This would save your fabrication costs...
Also I PMed you a while back and asked why 2.5" would be bad, either way your DP is 2.25" so I personally feel that going to a 2.5" CB should not be a disadvantage at all. Please explain the exhaust theory in play here. Back in the DSM days I had a 2.5" DP mated to a 3" CB and all the tuners said this would work fine until I pushed the bar with a 18G+ turbo. I would assume flow is similar here. As the exhaust cools down past the DP the larger flow should not be a disadvantage. A little help pretty please!

Your N/A Ralliart is not a turbo DSM so......... You know better JOE. Not good to compare he 2. After picking the brain of guys smarter than me in the area of exhaust, headers etc... They tell me don't go 2.5. From guys I talk to with Ralliarts, all the fastest N/A guys are t he ones who stuck to 2.25 inch. Seems to all make sense in theory and in practice. Try 2.5 if you like but I am confident with all the data I have to work with.

Well I am hoping tp pickup one of those nice turbo kits you have soon(a year or two), so I want to be ready for the flow I need. What do I know better...
Exhaust flow is exhaust flow. An NA needs some restriction, although I know that it may take away some low end and add some top end: the top end is short so the 2.25" is a better fit for an overall driving range.
Either way I am not concerned because it is a 2.25" DP. The most important part of the exhaust flow is the headers and DP, after that the exhaust air has cooled down and expanded and the 2.5" may not be so bad. I want some of this data...I also want to make some of my own so I will let you know my findings.

I have the muffler, tip, and resonator. All Magnaflow. I am going to have a shop in Michigan that does Mandrel bends and stainless steel do a custom job for me. This way fitment is 100% and mates up to the DP like it should. It will never rust and should probably cost less when it is all done with.
Tip: $20
Muffler: $80
Resonator: $50
Welding, fabrication, bends: $250 (at the most)
Total $400 for a CB exhaust system. I am also going to sell the current pressbent system that is on the car. It is a 2.5" system. I will be pricing that very good and will not sell until I have mine done and on the car.

Hm.. well i don't think i'll ever go turbo cause i just can't afford that with college, so 2.25 sounds like the best bet for me, and since i'm too lazy to get a shop to do it and so forth cause the local shops in my area ripped a good amount of my friends off in the past i'll just get the RRM. Good luck with your setup Joe, also how does the RA feel with the 2.5 inch setup you have running now?
It feels good. Pretty used to it now although I could really tell some gains over 3k with the system as a whole, and after adding the pulley any loss down low with the larger piping didn't matter as the pulley helped with the low-range.
Now with the addition of the RRM DP and the existing system it has been interesting to drive the car. It seems to pull everywhere much better. A raspier tone but nothing like some Honda around here.
