RA Transmission bolt pattern
RA Transmission bolt pattern
Hi guys,
I have a question concerning the 4g69 engine / transmission. My basic question is this, does the RA transmission and the v6 mitsubishi family of engines have the same bolt pattern? Are they interchangeable?
The reason I ask is that I race a 2002 Lancer in Rally. They have changed the rules and I can now run 2.4l instead of the 2.0l motor. I understand it is a ton of work to change, but the displacement is worth it to me. We already have one motor, and we are trying to find a transmission that will bolt up with good ratios for rally.
Any help would be apreciated. And yes I did search, a ton.
Thanks
Brad M

we are currently looking into something similar to what you are asking I think you will have to search to find a transmission that comes from the 4g9 series if you are keeping your 4G94 engine your choices are not good...
but if you are wanting o swap out the 4G94 engine and drop a 4G69 engine in there then there are a few more options for you like the 4G64....
It maybe cheaper and you may get a better result if you got one made up to suit your engine especially if you think you have reached the capacity for what your engine can produce plus you can add LSD to it more easily

Okay, here is what I am trying to do and my plans of attack.
I am going to use the 4g69 motor. We have flogged the 4g94 and at the last race I broke the crankshaft. Very un-good. Time to do a new motor no matter what, which means compatibility questions.
I already have two transmissions for the 4g94, complete with low ring and pinion and Kaaz limited slips set up for rally. I also have a six speed from a Hyundai that has the same bolt pattern as the Mitsu V6. The advantage of that transmission is the close ratio 2nd, 3rd, 4th and an already low gear ratio.
If I can, I would use the six speed.
The second choice is to use the transmissions I have if I can change the front part of the case (bellhousing?) to fit the 4g69.
The last choice is to buy Ralliart transmissions and install the limited slips and ring and pinions to make them usable.
Again, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
