Why did Mitsubishi have 2 different bolt patterns? OZ vs LS/ES?

I don't see any reason behind why Mitsubishi had 2 different bolt patterns OZ vs LS/ES

But why the 4x100 vs 4x114.3?
I don't see a reason for this.. hell, why have the 5x114.3 for the evo's as well?
Pick one and roll with it, have tons more wheel options with a mainstream bolt pattern..

I can understand cost savings between 5 lug (evo) and 4 lug (lancer), but why they found the need to use two different patterns between the lancer models, I don't have a clue

I'm interested in hearing an explanation as well if anybody has an educated guess

Your es should be 4x100, the far more common of the 2 bolt patterns..

universal bolt pattern wheels look ugly...

I was just curious as to why Mitsubishi thought this was the way to go..

I thought LE/ES had the 4x100 and the OZ being the 4x114.3?

I've never even seen an LS.. Only ES and OZ cars..

LS and OZ are pretty much the same on almost everything. the ES is just the stock base model with nothing.

In just about any parts house, they always ask me if my 2002 Lancer is a LS, ES or OZ..
So is there a 2002 LS? Whats so different from the LS vs the ES? cruise control? Thats about the only thing my 2002 Lancer ES is missing.. No ground effects either..
