oh yeah, you will definitely have serious gains with the header and dp. the sound is a little price you pay to play. personally, i love the sound.. but it's like watching a movie with the volume louder than you need it.. still works, sounds good, but would be just as pleasing if it was a little more quiet.

Well, I've had the Header/Downpipe/High-Flow Cat on for a whole week now. I've logged about 300 miles with them on my car so far and the raspiness is starting to settle down. Although it's not completely gone quite yet.

I was out joyriding around last night and had my windows down. I happened to go under an overpass at one point, so I hit the gas pretty hard and it sounded like a huge swarm of bees were coming out of my car! It was amazing! It wasn't a tinny sound, but it was more like the swarm of bees were mini B-52's and someone had really pissed them off. I think I went through that overpass a minimum of a dozen times after that. I'm pretty sure that I had a perma-grin till I got home.

Is it : OMG I dont wanna drive this loud or is it realy just like any other 4cyl with full exhaust??

im getting it anyway, but in the past I got a cat-back and was WOW thats too loud, back to the shop and a resinator later and it was super nice. So wouldnt that be the same here?

I suppose it depends on what you consider to be too loud. Most people would probably not want to run with it as loud as it is, but I don't really mind it. With my current setup, you can coast through a parking lot and set alarms off with it without really meaning to. It has a nice low rumble at lower revs, but when you get on it, it's super loud. For me, it was a little ricey at first, but after a week of breaking it in, it doesn't sound nearly as ricey as when I first got it installed. You could probably hear it from roughly a block away, maybe further if you're running hard, but since I don't let anyone drive my car other than me, that's just my estimation.

I guess he means good loud. THe kind that made him feel manly. All jokes aside though. With a cat it is not too loud. Without a cat I would consider it loud like you would get tired of it. Reminds me of the Simpsons epsisode when homer buy a gun. He get the silencer with it and the LOUDENER!!! Just depends on your mood!

Thanks Rock, The fact that he loves the sound is a plus. To me that means its not stoopid loud.

Ive come from having a few turbo silvias and an FTO and this is probably my first N/A car that I'm about to work on (apart from the fto)

I know what a 3" exhaust on a turbo car souds like, but a N/A car is out of my area and im trying to compare in my brain what to expect!! heheh

I supose you could allways get a nice big resinator if it was that little too loud for daily? meh, think I'll just have to get it and find out.

Mark

its starts getting loud after 2500 rpm's, i like the way it sound's, it's very agressive. So i really dont have a problem about being loud, they only problem i have it's the COP'S!!!!!

thats why on the road you take it easy on the gas =]

then when you get to highway go for it... that and places where you're alone and you want to hear your car roar =]

ok so just about to buy the header downpipe and hf cat but i need to know what you guys think about leavin the rest of the exhaust stock. Im trying to avoid the too loud mark but when i punch i want to hear it and feel that extra pull. Im assuming the the stock exhaust is free flowing enough that i will still get a decent hp boost . My car is decently loud already w/ only an injen intake

I heard that the stock exhaust is free flowing enough too. I ran an intake, header/downpipe, hi flow cat and an under drive pulley with the stock cat back for a very long time. Then I decided to change out the catback exhaust since I was going to get a piggy and I noticed that it helped on the top end quite a bit by just changing out the catback exhaust.

It wasn't an OH CRAP difference, but I definitely noticed it. It's not just me trying to notice things either, I drive my RA every day of the week through city and mountain roads.

Even if you don't change out the catback exhaust, you will still feel a great amount of power from those mods you listed.

And about the sound.. it's awesome with the stock catback exhaust, not too loud but aggressive when you punch it. I miss it sometimes but this new catback does the trick too.

sounds good i have the ud coming anytime now. I plan on going with possibly the intake manifold after the headers combo and hf cat. I sorta want it to remain a sleeper. I dont want to lose resale either. So my thought was peope wont know my car has ***** unless i decide to let them know.

the only thing visible that you could change on the drivetrain would be the exhaust unless you have an intercooler which is a whole different story... otherwise if you keep the exhaust stock you'll have a sleeper no matter what you do to the engine
