Sorry it seems as if this has stalled somewhat, but it is very nearly ready to begin installation. Im itching to order the transmission now! We've recently been doing a custom engine swap on another car, so my AWD conversion is next in our little garage!

We recently bought a little runabout car - a Mitsubishi 1.5 Turbo-Diesel Colt Hatch!
With 165ft lbs of Torque its nippy and returns nearly 70mpg! Lovin it!

Whats odd is that its a lot more roomy than the lancer. The rear seats have acres of leg room. And because it only weighs 970Kg and has 115bhp / 165ft lbs Torque, its very nippy!

Why can't we have little things like that in the U.S., oh wait, small cars like that and those damn civic have a habit of getting people killed by big *** trucks.

I would defenetly get me one of those! if we had them in the US. With resent gas prices I'll risk getting ran over by a truck.

Yeah we've got the European 3 door version the 1.5 Turbo Colt CZT. They dont think the Ralliart would sell over here because its in the unpopular 5-door style.

the hatch back style like the civics are not in style here anymore. Maybe the sicon xa s or something like the nissan versa of or ford focus, I don't really see them to much. They are mostly 5 doors and not 3 doors.

Diavlo - we don't get the diesel version here in Australia yet, but the petrol colt ralliart (turbo) has a cool looking hood (bonnet!) with the evo style vents.
My dealer lent me a base model auto colt while mine was getting serviced and it was pretty wierd, its a type of automatic transmission that doesn't actually seem to change gear at all, its a really odd feeling... I forget what they call that type.
But totally had heaps of room for the drive/passenger and could fit the baby seat etc.
How do you find it on corners?

Ryan_VRX06 .... CVT Transmission ..... theyve been in cars for years and years .... even Nissan Micras have them! Whilst i havent been in a Ralliart Colt yet, i have been in a Colt Cabrio Turbo which is based on the euro CZT"s i believe --- i didnt rate it too well in comparison t the raving reviews ive been told my a guy in sydney i know of who runs www.rcolt.com

We've got a cabrio as well, and they are not as good to drive but they are fun with the roof down! The colt is ok in corners, but nothing compared to the lancer with TEIN Basics and RRM's stuff!

Anyhow, I have a little update on my AWD conversion.

I found a company in Australia that makes wheel arch flares for their "CH" Lancer. I've bought them coz I was impressed at how the back ones fit and look. The front ones may need a bit of modication to make them look a bit better, but otherwise I think this is what my car needed.

I will be buying 18x8 wheels (I know the performance loss but I plan to go Turbo very soon after the AWD is done) in offset +29 (exact same distance between strut and inside wheel, but wheel will extend out another 29mm to fill the new flares) to create a nice wide wheel base, AWD lancer.

There is a pic of someone with the flares here:

I dont think u'll be able to fit 8" wide rims under the CH though as the 'flares' bolt onto the existing metal guards --- u dont cut any metal away to make the guards effectively wider like 'good' wideybody kits tell you to do. 8" wheels with a +29 offset will most definitely fowl in my opinion , probably even worse with the flares u want to get.

FLARES can look 'okay' generally... as long as your car doesnt end up looking like this. lol

Im getting the arches first then I'll decide on the wheels. I was thinking of rolling the arches, coupled with raising the car on the TEIN's I have, as its obvious those arches bring the top of the arch down a good deal.

Obviously I'll make sure of what I do will work before I buy the wheels!
