Day 6.

The fluctuating idle symptom has pretty much subsided. Car is running great and no other issues to date.

Good. I tried to reproduce the problem and the only way I could do it was by installing the ECU, starting the car and revving it immediately. If you do that the ECU has trouble learning the idle settings but as you saw it just takes some time.

Car computers are like women. You could buy them drinks and try to trick them into going home with you... If only you could reprogram the one you want to WANT to go home with you... Reflashing is like making the computer WANT to run the engine like you want rather than trying to trick it against it's will.

They both have their pros and cons to be frank. But having once owned the piggyback I will go with the reflash.

And what would the cons be for a reflash, R.I.?

Basic things:
Pros:
No need to self tune...will be tuned for your current mods by Hackish
Can be tuned properly for higher octanes.
Install is 5 mins or less

Cons:
Your reflashed is tuned for a certain set of mods. Although it's very adaptable to other mods it has limits. It conflicts with the RRM timing box is one example.
To get it reflashed hackish is in Canada, so if you want to change your flash image you have to send it to Canada or he updates another ECU and sends it to you.
You can't tune it your self for new mods like you can with the piggyback.

Still bang for buck it beats the piggyback.

Thanks, R.I. But isn't the point of a reflash that, once the flash is done, it makes the ECU automatically compensate for any and all NA mods you might want to do, so you don't have to tune it yourself ever again?

Of course the reflash conflicts with piggybacks because it completely removes the need for them. Yes, it also adapts for additional mods. You don't have to trick the system into doing something by using a piggyback to modify some signal... instead I just program the computer to do what we want.

Some people enjoy being on their knees soldering wires on to their harness to install a piggyback. I do not. If you pay a shop to install and tune several piggybacks plus the cost of the piggybacks you're easily over a g-note. Get it tuned then check your fuel trims a week later. I'm guessing you'll find the ECU needs to be reset on a weekly basis or more often depending on how you drive.

These are all things that made me go out and develop this reflash.

I'm sure it's adaptable to most NA bolt-on mods. But once you start upgrading internals for N/A or going forced induction that requires a whole new ECU image.
