Car loses power around 5,800rpms
If they are different from year to year, are the eclipse or outlander ones different? Also, if some with an 05 lost power and some didnt, does the earlier 05 cam differ from the later 05 cam? Are there part numbers on the cam anywhere or something we can find out in a repair manual? Lots of questions to consider. I couldnt imagine mitsu changing parts for a car that only had a couple years of production. But then again hackish had problems with the 06 ecu (i think) because it was different.
Who what?! This is all confusing. Can we re-cap?
From what I can gather, it sounds like they have a proper grind out there for a certain camshaft year since a few people have it with no power loss. Then, some people had a camshaft from a different year grinded down with the same grind profile Delta had on file not knowing the camshaft had different specs depending on the year and are experiencing power loss.
Does that sound right or did I miss something?
This is the part that confuses me. We then have people saying that their mivec lobes are grinded down which almost sounds like it was human error on Delta's part. Unless they changed where the mivec lobes are on the camshaft from year to year?
This is what I have so far on who has what:
darewood - 05 - power loss at wot
dacib - 05 - power loss at wot
lazukard - 04 - power loss at wot
lanzerralliart - 05 - no powerloss
ralliartize it - ?? - no power loss
Another factor here is that it also depends where each person got their camshaft from unless they all sent in their own to be grinded down.
Can anyone clarify this a bit? I feel like I missed something..

Figured I'd throw my hat into this conversation since I've got a Delta cam as well.
Mine's an 05, and I don't have power loss...
It doesn't pull quite as hard at WOT near redline as it does in the mid range, but it never has.
On a side note mine is an AT, and I don't have the 3-4 shift problem that was encountered by another member with an AT and cam.
All in all it seems kinda hit and miss... Not sure if Delta was experimenting with profiles or what.

yes, but not much... more like a clean up and contouring of the edges. the intake and exhaust ports weren't really touched size wise. The IM was gasket matched though.
I sent the photos then to Ralliartize, sadly only have 2 of them
Just to clarify some things, I have an 06 so either each year has a different profile or its what we think with that the 04 and then the 05/06 are different.
Also Ralliart610 Hackish did have some trouble with the 06, I can attest since I was the guinea pig. The weird thing was, when I recieved my stocker back flashed, the previous one that didn't work, actually worked. The only thing that was bad was a mivec engagement issue with the reflash, but it all works now haha.
I'm pretty sure he ment that it didn't make a difference it making him shift

Can u elaborate a little? it's a bit hard to understand perfectly...
yeah I'm just giving Dacib a hard time ....

haha sorry Lanzer :P
Lets see, Basically the first ECU I got from Hackish was re-flashed and I sent in my stock one. Everything worked perfectly except when mivec would engage. (I never did get a video for some reason) Basically there was this "Dead spot" from engagement (4,100) till about 5,000. Then it would really kick. During this time I reset the thing like every month but to no avail it was still there. But once I got my stock back flashed, the engagement was perfect (no issues). So I decided to test out the first flash to see the difference. To my amazement the issue I was having with the first flash wasn't there anymore.
Hopefully thats a little better explained?
