Update,

I spoke to Ken tonight on this issue and he's willing to help us resolve this matter.

We both have confirmed that the 4G69 has two different OEM camshaft profiles.
The 04 RA has a completely different profile from any other vehicle that runs the 4G69....this is applicable to Canada as well. This is an inherent problem we truly could not have known at the beginning of this venture as my camshaft was the prototype. That being said Ken would like to perform more detailed analysis of cams of different years so he can right the situation by designing a proper camshaft for all models.

I have a spare camshaft I'm willing to send him...it's from an 05, but this venture will only be fruitful if someone with an 04 camshaft is willing to send it out to Delta for research as well.

I know it's going to come up, but I have not discussed if the new cam would be free for people who bought the prior cam (I assume it will be).

Darewood - I saw your post with the two cams...cam you send me that photo but with the intake, exhaust, and Mivec lobes clearly defined?

Wow I'm glad that we got that clarified. Now I wish I didn't have to use my stock one for the grind so I could throw them my 06 into the mix And what Ken did for me was basically kept the Canadian one from me and ground my stock for free. Hopefully he does something for us that already have it done.

Also I can send you the photo's tonight, I know I've emailed you before but I can't find you in my contacts so can I get it again? If not I'll just upload it to my website and I'll send you the links to d/l the files.

Is this referring to the '04 MIVEC lobes having 3 cam profiles?

When I look at my RRM cam, the MIVEC lobes have what appear to be 3 'cuts'. I'm assuming when the hydraulics engage and shift the rocker arms that each of these angular grinds are what increase the duration during each stage?

Is that what varies for the '05/'06 models and the rest of the 4G69 cams? Are there only two cam profiles on the newer cars?

I have a spare '04 4g69 sitting in my backyard. Perhaps I could pull the cam and send it in to help out? Let me know if he wants it I'm not planning on using it any time soon.

I sure hope this gets worked out. Most importantly, for the sake of the people that already bought the regrinds but also for the rest of us that would like a cam upgrade.

I had decided to never change my cam after following this post. I'd reconsider that if they can figure this out.

About the different cam profiles. Here in PR some people commented that the 06 RA had a different cam from previous models on 04-05. I dont know the specs but some mechanics have talked about. IIRC there was also a discussion about MIVEC engagement on 06's.

So which cam will actually work if someone's already had a grind done on an 04 cam? I'm lost lol

i could have measured mine when it was out, but this topic was not out, and the people involved were still waiting for their cams at the time

The cam still works, Ralliartize it still has the first regrind in his ralliart. Although it might be a little better , I have an oem 05 cam just to throw into the mix incase it's needed

Who what?! This is all confusing. Can we re-cap?

From what I can gather, it sounds like they have a proper grind out there for a certain camshaft year since a few people have it with no power loss. Then, some people had a camshaft from a different year grinded down with the same grind profile Delta had on file not knowing the camshaft had different specs depending on the year and are experiencing power loss.

Does that sound right or did I miss something?

This is the part that confuses me. We then have people saying that their mivec lobes are grinded down which almost sounds like it was human error on Delta's part. Unless they changed where the mivec lobes are on the camshaft from year to year?

This is what I have so far on who has what:
darewood - 05 - power loss at wot
dacib - 05 - power loss at wot
lazukard - 04 - power loss at wot
lanzerralliart - 05 - no powerloss
ralliartize it - ?? - no power loss

Another factor here is that it also depends where each person got their camshaft from unless they all sent in their own to be grinded down.

Can anyone clarify this a bit? I feel like I missed something..
