nabbed a master cyl today from a forum member. going to hopefully take car into shop tomorrow to have noise checked out. the more and more i hear it i think TOB is going out.

BTW -- I had what sounds very similar to what you are stating. The true issue for me was that my TOB clutch sleeve (I think that's what it is). The piece that the TOB actually slides on was grooved and my TOB was not seating all the way down.
BTW -- I have the Aasco Al lightened flywheel as a DD for over 6 months and have put over 6,000 miles on it and all is fine.

oh, racer said he replaced the input shaft bearing, but when you put the transmission back together, you need to take the shim(s) out and put solder in its place, torque the differential case/bell housing together, then pull it apart and verify the solder was squished to the same thickness as the shim you are using, within spec...
