now if it is different in real life...that's a diffrent story...
i dont know for sure on that one...
I would worry the Outlander oil pan is not shaped the same way. Some parts come really close to the pan, like the exhaust manifold and something else I can't remember right now.

Maybe you could call a dealership and ask them if they have the same P/N for both??
That way we'd know for sure if the Outlander pan fits the Lancer.

I decided to order the exact part from mitsubishiparts.net
To hell with the extra $70.

I guess it's less expensive than buying the Outlander part and realizing it doesn't fit.

Chances are slim, but the layout is different, the Outlander has more ground clearance so the exhaust manifold doesn't have to go "through" it, like on the Lancer. I doubt the Outlander has the same exhaust manifold as the Lancer.

if it has the same enigne it's higly likely it does have the same part...
manufacturers are lazy...they'd rather design one thing and make it work in 5 cars..

ive never seen the underside of an outlander, but i can almost guarantee it looks like a lancer's....
mitsubushiparts.net does not show part #'s...so i can't guarantee but you can always call the dealer and verify...

most crossovers are some kind of car...only the body is different(and suspension and interior and stuff too)...but the frame is identical to some other car in their lineup...i'd put $ it's the lancer in mitsu

just looked on wikipedia(yea i know it's not the most reliable source but it states the same thing i just assumed...)
i looked up outlander, and said it's based on the GS platform...guess what other mitsubishi car is based on the "GS platform"(which it shared with chrysler)...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_GS_platformclick link to find out...

That's what I've noticed. The 4WD outlander engine has a 2 part pan that wouldn't fit a lancer. View my pictures for refrence

I have the same problem , with the oil pan rotting out , when the pan is replaced does the exhaust pipe need to be removed ?

I don't think so, but then again, I DID have my downpipe hanging, when I took my pan off.
