I don't know how else to explain it but it only happens when I'm on 5th gear. When I accelerate/step on the gas when on 5th, it makes this ringing sound which sounds like it's coming from the engine bay.

I will try to get a recording of the sound it makes but for now please help me find out what the problem is and if it is a serious issue.

Probably best to get us the recording first but I can only assume it's the gearbox since it only happens in fifth gear.

 

@Baby_Evo: I was thinking gearbox as well since it only rings on 5th. I don't know if this has any contribution to the problem but I just hit 247,000km on my odometer a few days ago. Maybe my engine needs a rebuild? Maybe my tranny needs to get work done ASAP?

@Cranswick: I think I'm ready for the trans rebuild that we've been waiting for. Got some money saved and I will take a look at the list you sent me. Please let me know if this is still a possibility Thanks man!
