Transmission bellhousing question

I have a 2003 OZ Rally Edition (Manuel) that’s in real good shape and work done into the appearance from previous owner. I’m doing an engine swap with a 2.4L motor out of a 2005 lancer ralliart (Auto). Got the car for a good price so I took it. I’m rebuilding my gear box in the 2003. I learned that between the two cars the Manuel transmission have different part numbers. The 2003 has the F5M42 and the 2005 has the W5M51 but they both have the same automatic transmission. So the only thing I could think on is that the gear ratio must be a bit different between the two Manuel transmissions. I was fine with this and started buying the things I need and started to rebuild my gearbox. I figured out after about the bellhousing and that mine won’t work. Looked at the 2005 and noticed the started is in the front and not in the back like the 2003. This really sets me back as I don’t know if I will be able to get a bellhousing for it, but then I was thinking, will a bellhousing from the automatic work with gearbox/Manuel I have? The bolt pattern should be the same just don’t know whats in the bellhousing that could make it different. Please help

Where did you find the information that the 4G69 is mated to a W5M51? As far as the bell housing goes it is integral to the transmission case, as in it makes up one half of the case, and I would be shocked if you could mate the auto bell housing to the manual case...also you won't have the necessary mounting points for your clutch control/release system...

I have access to pro demand that’s a program that a lot of garages uses and the same program my school used to teach us how to use to search up anything you need to find out. The 2.4L engines/ralliarts have the W15M1 transmission as the starter is located in the front and not the back as the 2.0L is (F5M42). If you look it up the 2 cars between 2.4 and 2.0 they have the exact same auto transmission but for some reason the manual transmissions changed and I’m guessing due to gear ratio. If they have the same auto transmission then the bellhousing is the only thing I can see different between the two. I’ve read that some people have used a auto bellhousing for their manual LS engine and it work perfect. I know ones American vs Japanese but it worth a try to ask. The only thing I’m worried about is if the bolts or matting surface is different or the input and output shafts don’t line up. As far as I can think anyway. See I’m taking a motor out an auto and putting into my car that manual. Where the starter is in a new place I’m gonna need another bellhousing and I was hopping the one from the auto will work as then I won’t have to try and find one which is going to be a pain. Or having to get the whole transmission and I don’t wanna go at that as I’m rebuilding my other one already. The same transmission that were used with the older ralliarts W1M51 are used in the newer lancers with 2.0L so the only thing that could change is the shape of the bellhousing.

These are not LS engines, and 4G94 and 4G69 engine have different bolt patterns and different starter location, but the gearbox is essentially the same, like I said in the other thread, they are referred to as F5M42-1 and F5M42-2...I highly doubt auto bellhousing will even bolt up to the manual transmission case...obviously it will bolt to the motor, but that's not the issue, even if it did somehow bolt up to the case, you would still have issues with clutch control, and possibly clutch clearances...not to mention, the through hole for the input shaft i'm almost certain is a different size, so sealing the input shaft would be a major issue...

save yourself the headache and get yourself a transmission from a 04-06 Ralliart...If you know someone who can repair oil soaked cast aluminum, I have a damaged bell housing for a ralliart you can have for free if you pay for shipping...you'll still need a clutch fork/boot, release bearing and slave cylinder from a Ralliart.

I feel like it’s not gonna work either after reading and thinking about it myself. The throwout bearing comes out the side of the bellhousing and I doubt there’s a hole for thy on the automatics. I screwed up and got ahead of myself and bought the wrong the clutch kit. Got it for the 2.0 instead of the 2.4 thinking I could use the same bellhousing from mine until I noticed the stater. Gonna have to see if they will take it back now ffs. And is that even possible to fix?

I tried to braze it, but it wouldn't take....could maybe be welded... haven't bothered with it, but if I did fix I could build a spare transmission... it's my original tranny that my first ACT stage 1 clutch destroyed when it decided to break apart and throw pieces of itself through the tranny case....

I might be able to get one here. Are you able to get the full number off the transmission/bell housing for me? The place I called needs it and I don’t have one to be able to give him the number. It would help a lot thank you!
