F5M42 Transaxle Questions

Hi, I’m finally putting my transaxle back together and have a couple of questions hoping I can get some help. I removed the input shaft seal last year and don’t remember what direction it needs to be put back into the case. I also installed a wavetrac LSD and can’t remember which side the shim goes on the differential. Any help is much appreciated going to clean off the dust tomorrow and hopefully get it ready to be put back together this weekend.

Shim goes on the driver side of the diff iirc....the seal I'd have to see it again...I can look at my spare case when I get home.

Yeah looking at the directions it looks like the bell housing side. Which would be the passenger side?
if you don’t mind taking a look at the seal just let me know if you can see the metal on it or not.

I measured preload and with the shim underneath the diff, I got .15mm with a .9mm shim so if I go with a 1.0mm shim that would put my preload at .05mm but idk if I want to mess with it since it’s not far out of spec.

Oh and the speedometer gear that I put on the diff looks a lot thinner than the one that’s machined on the oem diff I may have some problems.

also I replaced my flywheel and I didn’t know until after the bolts shouldn’t be reused. What are your thoughts on that?

sorry for all of the comments this is why I haven’t been motivated to finish so many unanswered questions. Thanks in advance!

I just found a video that has a good view of the input shaft seal and the metal ring does face inside the trans. But the seal I bought from rock auto was the wrong seal and now I can’t find the part number anywhere to order from Mitsubishi.
