Question Injen CAI

Hey guys I have asked about Air Intakes a lot recently becuz I want to get one for my auto but since it IS an auto I have a hard time finding a CAI, now Injen has one out

http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Des...delDesc=Lancer

and I would like to know if anyone has it and how does it perform compared with my first choice, the RRM SRI. Sorry to post a new topic on the subject but I don't want to get the "Engine Dress up tips?" thread off-topic.

PS: I know there is a zillion of threads like this out there but they didn't help me because they weren't auto-tranny specific.

Thanks
Danny

So it adds the same amount of power as it would on a manual transmission?

yes, for the auto will fit on both manual and auto. INJEN made it universal and will make it that way in 2005

So its the same gain

Yes they made it universal, however you would have to convert it from a two piece to a one piece, so if you are auto you would basically be paying twice the money, just to have to turn it into an sri,

He's refering to Injen part #PTRD1834P. It's supposed to fit auto trannies WITH the cold air extension. See here -
http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Des...delDesc=Lancer

Different than the RD1833 that the manual tranny guys run. I don't know of anyone who's running this intake yet as I think it just became available. I would call Injen or Ptuning.com to make sure this will fit an Auto with the extension.

That's a big issue since money is kinda short on me now...

Thanks for the quick assistance. I will look into whether it fits WITH the extension or not then.

No, the new INJEN cold air intake will fit both auto and manual in the cold air configuration. You can choose to put it in the SRI configuration if you want.

I am running the new INJEN intake. It says its fits both manual and auto right on the box.

Well, I can safely say that the 1833 (old part#) works quite nicely on my manual. Smooths out the tq band quite nicely, and has a nice throaty roar in the upper rpm range. I don't know what changes the 1834 bring, but I can't imagine it's much different.

I just posted a topic in the Install category about the Injen CAI. I just bought want and wanted install tips. Do I have to take off the bumper? Is it easy or hard? Or can I just take off the tire and the splash guard?

Also, did anyone cut a hole next to the fog light to force more air in? Or underneath the car? It seems as if the air will get trapped where the filter is. Thanks!!!

You do not have to remove the bumper to install the CAI, just the plastic panels under the car in front of the wheel well.

You do not need to cut a hole anywhere to force more air in, there's already plenty of air in the space above the splash guards.

I also had to remove the battery to get my Injen CAI in.
