it would be easy enough to make. we can read the RMPs from the ECU. Just use a variable resistor inline with a few diodes to dump a 5v load onto the pos lead of the mivec solenoid when the RPM output hits the given adjustable level. im tempted to go play /w my solenoid now and manually force the car to switch into mivec while someoen gives it a bit of gass =) then try to retard it until like 4k rpm.

im just wondering what else in the ECU is modified after 3500 rpm? the ecu gets a mivec signal as well. would prob have to alter that so the other circuitry knows the on/off states.

how much would u pay for such a device? $100? $200? might be a good weekend project. they are guessing that gas will be averaging over $4/gal by the end of summer =)

I'd be interested in buying something like that. Especially if it had a switch somewhere to turn it on and off. Keep us updated?

has anyone tried using an emanage to do this?

btw, if anyone besides myself is thinking of installing an emanage but wants an bit of insight into what it takes, here is the emanage manual:

emanage etc all just a RPM activated switch you can get one from MSD for like 50 bucks

yeah theyll work with some figuring, pretty basic idea but you would want to remap the part of the fuel/timming curve thats usually when in MIVEc if its not anymore vise verca

Word it the mivec is mechanically engaged by oil pressure and not electronically like vtec. If this is the case, you can throw all those ideas away.

where did you hear this? many mivec systems have been used over seas and im not totally sure. i know the ECU has a mivec out pin, which made me believe that it was electronic. that and the FTO had electronic mivec switches.
