sorry to here that man, do your self a favor and make sure that cop wrote the police report up right. its looking like for me anyways i will have to take the kid and his insurance company to small claims court for my medical bills and damage on my rear bumper. his insurance company denied me my claim becuase the cop wrote the report up wrong, but i can get statements from the other 2 people that also was involved stateing it was his fault. anyways make sure the police report is right becuase now i have to go talk to the insurance guys boss and the police officers supervisor and see how im going to be able to take care off this. i got hit in the rear in mid december and it still isnt taken care off. around 700 dolllars to get it fixed. hope everything turns out ok for ya man and good to here your still with us

I hope your back and your gf's shoulder end up being alright. Don't know how insurance works in florida, but if it's a "normal" state, you should be able to make the guy's insurance cover everything (if he even has insurance.)

This is why I'm scared to move to florida, too many old people hitting things.

That's drastically different... the faster the impact is, the damage gets exponentially worse most of the time. Obviously he's not gonna have four things on his shopping list.

Glad you came out OK and I'm confident that you won't have any problems with who's at fault or any of that crap. Good luck, man.

At least you are alive. The car can be replaced but you or your girlfriend can't. Guess you'll just have to make the best out of the situation and hope everything gets covered.

Any damage to your header or engine block from the exaust getting shoved up like that?

Why didnt the airbags go off?? Thats like the 4th Ralliart Accident that the bags didnt go off..... Is there a potential problem with the system?

thx for all the kind words guys. i really appriciate it!

The towing company is also an adjustment agent and body shop. They say its probably not totaled, but if the repair costs are high enough, the insurance co may just say it is to save themselves some money. I wont have that, caus it will cost me money since I still owe on the car. If it can be fixed to original condition, it will be. Or if they want to total it, they pay off my bill.

But its good to know the cost of the parts. The bumber setup is more than the new RRM kit What can I do to get an estimate and a cash figure, then have the work done on my own? Also, my exhaust ran me about $550 and its really messed up. The muffler tip broke off and the can packing exploded. Think of a roll of pillsberry biscuts when you take the wrapping off and they explode. Kinda like that. I have reciepts, so should that be covered? Keep in mind that i am not at fault and its all going on his insurance, not mine.

The trunk, spoiler, bumpber, rebar and fenders can be replaced so im not worried about that. But the trunk area and underbody are what have me worried. Is the underbody all one piece? is it pretty much either pound it out or scrap the car? Its kinked and crumpled pretty bad and if it can be pounded out, i know its not going to be in as good of shape as it was before. I didnt have the spare in, but it surely wont fit correctly now.

And as for painting, the car is a year old and the florida sun isnt kind. Should I be able to get a full paint job out of it? The thunder gray /w the metal flake seems hard to match and I wont accept a 2tone car.

typing all his made my back hurt again. time to go lay down =) thx guys!

Any good shop should be able to match the paint. As far as the trunk that would actually get cut out and re glued/welded back in(I assume your talking about the trunk bottom). When you say fenders do you mean front fenders or rear 1/4 panels that are at the back of the car? Do the rear doors still open? Any parts you have on the car that are damaged is up to the insurance company. Typically this falls under somethign covered as contents or extra, and you would have to pay extra for that. If you have a good body shop they may just be able to quote the cost of the OE exhaust in the damages and then cut a check of that to you and hopeully that would cover your new catback system.

I still think their are options to suing the old farts insurance company for the difference, if its a total or if its medical, or if its custom parts. Small claims can go up to $5000-or maybe $7000 and you could pursue that on your own road. Chances are you would win.

Most importantly take care of yourself!!! It appears like this ratled your lower back and vertrabrae and maybe even a disc. Make sure you get it all looked at. You may need an MRI to be sure. I assume you have this covered, but your health is more important than any car, or any part otherwise.

If it does go to the total, keep me in mind....I know I know I had to be selfish somewhere.

It was a work contract that was totaled for $83,000. I am the only one at my company who can deliver it. The check doesnt get cut to me, but my company loses out. I think we can reschedule, but I have to pay for the flight and hotel and such.

yea, quarter panel. sorry, i hit my head, i guess rear passanger opens. didnt try the driver side, as it was too close to traffic. If I get a quote and take the check to have work done elsewhere and it ends up being more, an I SOL? Also, how long should it take to get replacement parts? Since the RA is so rare, I dont think I'll be able to find many spare bumpbers and such laying around the US.

And yea, im taking it easy today and hitting up the doc tomorrow. cant wait to talk to the insurance conartists....errr...adjusters. joy....

My EVO got rearended in Oct of 2003 and it took 3 weeks for them to get the parts and everything. Most parts had to come from Japan. I think you will be fine. It shouldn't take too long. Trust the shop you go to, do some shopping and see what the insurance conartists(company) works with in your area. They should take care of you 110% or else. It sounds like some major work and if the rear 1/4's need ot be replaced it could be a 7k job. Keep us posted.
