Got it adjusted on friday. they just let me know that the ins co will award $5,000 to repair the car. If bumper, lip, foam, paint, etc was $1800, that leaves $3,200. They also factored in the cost of my exhaust, which my reciepts show cost just under $550. So they are now at $2,650. They say they can repair the 1/4 pannels and repaint.

So I need:

Tail lights
Rebar
Trunk
Rear underbody
Anything unseen....
Tow/storage fees

anyone know what that stuff usually runs? Looks like they will be cutting it close.....

go back and ask for more money, if they don't comply, threaten to sue, because they didn't take into account several different things like your time, time to take off work, rental car, the troubles, and the pain your going through. Also... I'ld highly recommend hitting up the junkyard ASAP, so those storage fees don't build up.

SHouldn't work like that... They should be working off an est!!!

They shouldn't just set aside an amount & say that's what they'll do it for... They should be basing repairs on the est & if they're accepting 100% liability they need to bring your veh. back to the condition it was pre-accident... They may exclude aftermarket, but you said they're honoring your reciept... So...

You might want to review this w/ your attorney!

you should ask for more $$$ to be on the safe side, but it looks like 2650 could cover all that.

the estimate was $5000. thats what they are going off of. the only fishy thing is that the ins co that is paying the $5k MADE the estimate. isnt that something that the shop should do? But if the shop says it can be back to new for that much and have enough left over to cover the exhaust, then im all for it

just got off the phone /w the lawyer reps. I guess if its not fixed to my satisfaction, i just take it back to the shop, they call the ins co and ask for a reimbursment check that gets sent to me to cover any other damages. if they can fix it without cutting corners, im happy. otherwise, i know i still have an option.

every ins company uses the same database for doing estimate. they plug in the damaged and everything that needs replaced and the database gives them a number.

my little bit of hood damage is gonna cost 1100us to fix.
