i test drove the 05 impreza rs2.5 and the ralliart in nov. last year

the ONLY thing i liked about the impreza was AWD.

so in my opinion take em both for a ride.. and then decide how important AWD is to you.

obviously i chose the RA, though i would have bought an evo if they were available in canada.

I was looking at the same thing last year. i looked up all the ratings on both cars and i choose the Ralliart. if i remember one mag compared the svt focus, sentra se-r spec v, ralliart, and the wrx 2.5. the wrx placed last between them all. nonturbo'd wrx eh, thats like getting a lancer es in the wrx department. i say go for the ralliart. my 2 cents.

I know how everyone doesn't like the new '06 front but it really is starting to grow on me. Even those as of right now I prefer the '04 - '05 front.

Get the Ralliart, you get the 10 year warranty. Plus its faster than the 2.5

If your planning on modding your car, the 2.5rs would be perfect, more parts available. The body shape has got more details and looks pretty sexy with some upgrades. I"d say the subaru, but probably cause i've got a ralliart. Cars are like women, you get one, but always keep your eyes out for other ones, that are newer, perform more efficiently. And even if you get that new car, your old one still sits there, and you don't let anyone else touch or drive it. Ha ha...

I strongly believe you won't be considering the Suby once you've driven both cars back to back... the RA feels much nimbler and the Suby's tranny feels like farm tractor's shifter compared to the RA (unless it's a WRX or STI, but then aren't they using Getrag trannies anyway?).

Best bang for the buck is what you should look for anyway... and no Suby does that aside from the WRX in it's own category. But man that '06 is butt ugly!!! Who's the lame as sorry excuse for a designer who came up with that stupidly horrid front facia! In some country the guy would be shot on the spot for sure!!!

The inline 4 from Subaru is known to be very hard to tune (very special engine design)... only the turbo models are deemed to have much room for tuning, but it comes from the turbo setup itself more than from the actual engine.

As much as I am a fan of the Ralliart, the subie RS would be my choice (coming from an Evo owner). Over all they are very similar, but I like the subie interior a tad better, and the AWD is much more fun over FWD. Mod wise the RS, again with the AWD, has more out there, and that 2.5L sounds great.

Just my 2c. Enjoy your choice either way.

They do have someting in common... but if I remember correctly, SEAT is now part of the Fiat group, so no ties to Subaru. It's probably just a coincidence. Anyway, the SEAT doesn't look half as bad as the new Suby. Man, what a waste of a perfectly good car...

Shucks, wait a couple months, and get the new Civic Si. They're already being praised by the automotive press, and should come in under $20K. Unless 4 doors are a must.

Yes you are correct. SEAT is a FIAT company. (Its just wierd isnt it?)

Sorry for the tangent man - get what you like the most. Heck get a SEAT, import that badboy over to the US. Doubt anyone would have one here

I voted subie... but after looking at the website I would change that... I didn't realize that they had such a drastic change... it's pretty nasty... appearance aside I would pick the subie...

Yeah, you're right... my brother-in-law owns an Alfa Romeo 156 and it does kinda looks a bit like it... but like it's the retard of the family though. The Alfa if smooth and the nose blends in with the rest of the curves (and I mean curves) on the car. As this new Suby nose looks like an aftertought, like if one executive who was having a bad day decided he didn't like the front on the latest design and made them take the nose on his Alfa and put it on the new Impreza...

Anyway, if you like it you might as well buy it. If nobody does, who will Suby sell cars to? And if more people drive these cars, I will at least have the feeling that mine looks better by the day...
