SRT vs Lancer
oh and by the way...the only reason the RA lost that catfight was due to the ****ty tires.Did you even read the article??.. I dont care what anyone else says that is the truth. I eat SVT focus/contour/mazdaspeed protege/spec-V.... Ive beat spec V with stillen header/intake/magnaflow exhaust with cat delete/motor mounts/B&M shifter/ H&R coils/pulley.. I have only axleback magnaflow/K&N drop in filter/ groundwires.... He couldn't beleive it...very tight race though but RA has so much potential. So dont knock it till ya try it!

It is after all the starting platform for the EVO. The SRT-4 is the easy way out. Im sorry but thats just the truth.they are the modern day 5.0L mustang.... Dont get me wrong I am not knocking them at all....its just the RA is better in some places that the neon platform could ever be. Just as the SRT-4 is better in some areas too. I beleive if you threw in a few extra grand the RA can be competitive with the SRT. The RA understeers like a son of a B...so?? order the RRM sway bar..like 200 shipped??problem solved....its not to hard to make 220 WHP NA from RA....I bet its relatively cheap.... so in total invest 2000 in the RA and it performs better..enjoy RA boys

Alright, I'm going to leave you Ralliart guys alone and head over to the Evo side aka "the easy way out"

Dude seriously, the BIGGEST problem (and really only one that matters) with the SRT4 is that it is a Neon. Period. Because of that very simple fact, it carries the stigma of being a cheap American car. There is no way around it. No dyno numbers, track tests, or stage 3 turbo will take that away from it.
It may sound silly to you for so many people to look down on a car simply because of a name, but that the cold-hearted truth of the matter here. The neon is built like it's for a girl (small round edges, huge high-standing ***, cheap simple interior).
So you can sit here and argue numbers all day long, but in the end they are meaningless. This is one situation where the name alone (Neon) carries a ton of influence. Enough to make people put a blind eye to any kind of performance issues you throw them. Now on the other hand, if you just care about racing and nothing else, this could be the car for you (for the low budget racer of course). But for the others that look to their car as their everyday driver, and want it to be an extention of themself, owning a Neon doesn't represent them well.

You're still missing the point. It's not about what is fact here. It is what is perceived in people's mind. And that is that nobody (or few) people want a Neon. The name screams cheap. But keep on arguing. I think you are the one that is missing the point in this thread. Not everyone else.
Plus, how many conversations about Evo's have you heard where they say, "man that's nothing but a crappy Lancer." But how many have you heard when someone says, "that SRT4 aint nothing but a crappy Neon." I'm willing to bet you've heard the latter a ton of a lot more.

There is a guy I work with that owned a SRT4. Do you know how many times a week he had to justify his car to people at work? Do you know how many times he said, "I know I know, it's just a Neon but...."
You own an Evo, how many times a day do you have to say, "I know I know, it's just a Lancer but...."

i never say " i know i know its just a lancer " i am being honest i have NEVER had to justify my evo even to ppl with better cars than me...they know the evo they know what its capable of....they ask "what car u drive" ,i simply say evo, they say" thats badass, evos are awesome etc"and i dont think any other evo owner has to..nor an sti for it just being a 2.5rs

And that is my point exactly. The SRT4 is "supposed" to be to the Neon what the Evo is to the Lancer. But that just isn't the case. Frown on it if you want, but the very fact that the SRT4 is a Neon kills it for tons of people. It may suck but it's the truth.

Even non-car people (your average soccer mom) will know what an Evo is but if you showed them an SRT4 they would say it was just a Neon. And that is not made up, I've seen it happen with my own eyes plenty of times.
Now do you have the ***** to take insults on your car from soccer moms? lol
