Serious Mechanical Failure = No more RA
I posted the pics and info at a local Puerto Rico car forum and one of the guys that I know told us that the same thing happened to him about a year ago on his 2004 yellow RA. Mitsu buyed back the car and gave him a new one...
If he post his pics I will post them here too...

Oh thank you thank you. Those are verrrrrrrry helpful pictures. I can see in the first picture that the break was in the exact same spot. I just went out and inspected my OZ Rally today, and I can see why they break. The lower arm there is a two piece object. Its welded together in an upper and lower portion. The weld breaks from rusting or just being weak, and then it causes the whole thing to snap off and sheer back. If you go out and inspect your vehicle, you'll see where I'm talking about. Very poor design in my opinion, and people should look at these on their cars to see if there isn't a poor weld job or any rusting out occuring. I'll definetly be keeping an eye on mine. =/
If you are worried, go under your car and inspect the welds on the lower control arm where you see the breaking in my pictures. If there is rust or cracking, take it to the dealership and show them this thread. Also check the strut bolt on the top, I'm unsure which broke first, I just know i heard a loud snap
Looks like it is time for that WRX. Mitsu should give you an EVO. An EVO won't do that!
I am very sorry about this and just glad you are OK. I think that was entirely missed in this thread. These could have had undetermined effects. You could sue Mitsu and get whatever you want. I would see what they offer although after this unless you really want another RA I would want something better if it was me. I am glad you are mostly OK.
I wonder if lowering springs put more stress on this area than normal. I am going to check this and replace parts if they look rusty. By looking at the pictures it is difficult to spot the exhaust place of failure. The broken motor mount must have been a major part to play into this. Although I think it happened after the strut broke at the top. The right turn increased angle on that shock and caused it to collapse.

I was kind of thinking Subaru 2.5rs, but i'll see what insurance and Southgate Mitsu has to say.
Lowering spring might add to this issue. Last month I was like "Hey, I'm gunna order progress springs" and my brother said just to wait till the spring time to order them. Very good call on his part.
I think motor mount broke when I hit the wall.
Point of failure appears to be where that metal tore on the control arm. I say this because it looks exactly the same as what happened to the guy from PR.
I'll install google earth and illustrat what happened
That's some crazy azz snit, I will definitely be adding this to my monthly maintanence list.
On the indy car note I believe those wheels are designed to break away for safer accidents, and are also tethered to the car so they don't become flying hazards. While I am sure he was not trying to be an **** it does seem he was a little misinformed.

*update*
Insurance company is looking at the car tomarrow. *Tuesday* and hopefully they won't make up some BS decision. I went to get my garage door opener and some other small items out of the car today, and a lady there said the service guy at the dealership was taking tons of pictures of it for about a half hour today. I think they are shaking in their boots on this one.
*on a side note*
My dad inspects welds and metal failures for a living at a power plant. He said without a doubt the way the metal sheered away it was a bad weld.
