I'd trust a mechanic with 30 years experience to service my truck or bus. Most older mechanics that I've talked to said they just don't know how to work on modern engines. Give them a big pushrod V8 and a 4-bbl Holley, they'll make tire smoke all day. Start talking MAF sensors, throttle-by-wire, and variable valve timing, and their eyes kinda glaze over.

It doesn't matter how many years you have, stop being argumentative and accept the valid point both Otter and myself are trying to explain. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE ON THE JOB FOR THIRTY YEARS DOESN'T MAKE YOU AN EXPERT ON EVERYTHING IN THAT FIELD.

get over it man, joho's right.

you have less than 1000 posts since Oct 2005, so you are probably married, you didn't include your bio in your profile so I would have to guess you are in your late thirties. Because you are trying to defend someone you don't know who is (from what I gathered from your question anyway) in the same field of work, but for longer due to your age, I would say ten years working on cars.

That doesn't mean anything anyway, because I bet if you were to jump under the hood of a big rig you'd be about as lost as I am

it's possible he was from India, but that doesn't make him a moron either. Both of the men I spoke to sounded English language natives to me, and this was about 5 or 6 years ago, just before customer service became a real problem. Not saying your wrong, just saying you logic is definitely flawed in this case.

all joking aside...

so whatever the tech did, he did well enough that my mivec is a happy mivec.

i know for a fact that other people on this forum tinker around and adjust the lash to different settings,
(ask Mys)
so you may both be right.
please quit the pissing and moaning...
i feel like im talking to my x when i read these last few posts...

actually, since my problem is fixed, otter maybe you wanna close this?

yeah, plenty of information here, it can definitely be closed and still be useful. closing a thread is bad because if someone else searches they would have to start a new thread to ask any additional questions.

that's a funny *** movie man.
