joho--this is common sense, but your mind might be concentrating elsewhere. When you're almost done, to make things easier, you can dump your oil right on top of the rocker assembly instead of bolting the valve cover back on and pouring it in through the hole.

Plenty I don't know. Plus, I make a lot of mistakes, but I'm really good at learning from them.

There is no oil pan gasket. You need to get that liquid gasket stuff designed for imports (the gray stuff.) Every auto parts store in the world will have it.

If you have a Harbor Freight near you, you can pick up good torque wrenches for under $20.

the block bolt... umm, there are 6 of them with multiple washers on them?
i lost one of those somewhere... (in usually much better with these i swear)
and i lost the other grade 7 bolt that goes on the brass braces that go between the 2 and 3 coils. (1 between 1-2 and the other 2-3). they are shorter than all the other bolts.

Harbor Freight has everything. It's the toy store of tools. If you go there, plan to spend some time just browsing, tons of obscure/cool stuff. The one near me stocks no less than 6 different kinds of torque wrenches.

this one - http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=2696
or this one - http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...Itemnumber=807

Will work. I use the 3/8" one and just convert in/lbs to ft/lbs. Obviously, 12 in/lbs = 1 ft/lb.

HF's search sucks, their drill-down works better.

that one registers 20-200 in pounds...
and the other is for ft lbs.

80+- 9 in/lbs = 7 ft/lbs.
