So i got stuck workin Sat night 2nd shift. Pretty long boring day.
Well anyway i got off at 11 an i head to the only corner store that was open b4 i get to my house. I grab myself 3 budlight tallboys an two smirnoff ices for my pus roommate an i head to the counter to pay for em. While im waiting for my credit card to process i see a red oval looking van with red painted hubcaps pull up.
A younger guy(prob 21-25) get out an heads into the store an he is either stoned or drunk as hell but i vote for stoned.
I pay for my alcohol an turn around an this is how it goes..
Him "hey man that is a badass looking evo"

Me "its not an evo man,its a lancer ralliart"

Him "so its just a regular lancer?"

Me "No its the ralliart edition"

Him" so does it have a turbo?"

Me "not when i bought it but i put one in"

Him "what are you boosting?"

Me "7lbs"
Him "Thats badass i wish i hadnt sold my 91 cavalier"

Me "its not a radiator"

Me "yep, I get mad quick shifts yo!"

I just smile and nod. People ask me questions. Smile and nod. They dont need to know whats under the hood, they dont need to know you got a few thousand done tothe motor. Your **** could wind up missing one night.

Me: (smile and nod) "eh its ok"
Him: "is it any fast?"
Me: (smile and nod) "wanna find out?"

hell, visually mine is all stock minus wider tires on stock wheels and tein springs...

People always call mine an EVO... I don't care to correct em...

 

if they have to ask you, you know there not worth your time when it comes to cars

 

this guy told me hes friend had and evo that was turbo and supercharged me and my girlfriend walked off so he would stop talking and then when we came out of the sotre he was talking to some other guy about a system he had in his car and also I almost won a 100 dollar bet that my car was a turbo car when it isnt yet

 

i have been complimented on my "sweet evo" a couple times just cuz i have an aftermarket exhuast on my RA.

i figure, if they know that little about cars, then ill just leave them be, like my granddad always said "you cant fix stupid"

worst thing tho, was once a guy with an evo VIII asked me what year my evo was.

i wanted to punch him.

 

I had someone ask me the other day.....this guy drove an Audi S4 so i thought he knew a little about cars....
Him-"Hey, nice car, How do you like all-wheel drive"
Me-"????"
Him-"I really like my all-wheel drive audi here, I used to it being front."
Me- Its not all-wheel drive its just front (mind you he is standing behind my car with the Ralliart emblem in his face.)
Him-"O, why did mitsu, make a front wheel drive Evo??
Me- its the ralliart editon, lancer
Him-O, Thats stupid why did they make the same car with just different transmission, and give it a different name???
Me-Why are you stupid...I did not say that to his face.....I don't know man just got a good deal on the car.

I was going to tell him that my old 97 hyundai accent gt was turbo and faster than my "EVO"..lol...but he might not believe that....

im always tempted to try and sell my "evo" to people who think it is, that way i can have the money to go out and actually buy one

 

LOL. that really made me laugh. But people always tell me "Dang nice Evo" ... and it has nothing really Evo'ish except for an aftermarket muffler, and then i have eyelids on it..(maybe thats what makes them think different? eh.)

I wish it was an Evo but i never have a problem on saying "Nope, its not the Evo. its just the base Lancer. **** if it was an Evo i'd show you what its got"

 

Mine's still all stock and I actually had a guy at my work comment on it when I pulled up.

He was out having a smoke break and I parked and got out and he was like "Man, I wish I had an Evo. I hear the 10 is coming soon"

And I just laughed and was like "Yeah, I wish I had an evo too" and he kinda looked at me confused
