10k miles between oil change?

According to Yahoo auto 3000 miles is a thing of the past and no longer needed at 3k but un upwards of 5k-10k. Heres the link, anyone know anymore about this or the vailidty of it for Mitsu Lancers? Im not very knowledgeable but i get an oil change every 3k so this could save some $$.

I have never bothered with 3k. Amsoil - 10k changes. I just check the oil level every race. 92k on the clock.

Indeed. I run 7500 with Amsoil, but with the results I get back on my oil analysis, I could do 10k without issue.

Depends on the type of oil you use and how you drive the car.

What is this Amsoil? Is it better than the Castro Syntec I use?

I've always changed every 4k just because it starts looking darker.

Otter can talk about RP. Its not worth it.

Contact Oil Doc on here or go to amsoil.com - you can order directly online.

i don't recommend 10K on mobil 1. mobil 1 turns to **** after 6K. enough to make my oil pressure sensor go crazy.

i almost overfilled - because i thought i was low.

Yes, and oil color isn't a good indicator of wear, contamination is, and you need to have oil analyized to know how contaminated it is.

RP, put simply, fails at standardized oil testing, particularly shear testing. RP dumped tons of money into marketing and used non-standardized tests to tout their product, but it really doesn't hold up as well as they claim.

When I order it via OilDoc, by the case, it ends up costing about the same per quart as Mobil 1. (~5.99) Plus, it holds up a lot longer.

Seeing this is a Ralliart thread, this applies to Normally Aspirated Engines ONLY.

Even with AMSOIL, on Turbo Charged vehicles, it is only recommended to the longest OEM Service Interval.

The Recommended change intervals by AMSOIL are for unmodified, daily drivers.

Any modifications, Especially air Filters, will shorten the life of the oil as will driving conditions.

It also depends on the oil used. AMSOIL has a Hydro-Cracked Product, XL-7500and then goes to the AMO 10W-40 which is a 15,000 change interval, then the ASL 5W-30 and ATM 10W-30 which are 25,000...

Again, for daily drivers....And the use of the AMSOIL EA Series Filter is required unless you are going to change filters at the OEM Change Interval.

In a Non-Turbo'd car such as the Ralliart, I would expect most of our oils to go the 10,000 interval with no problems. Any except the XL and European oils.
