Cold Air Intake off Ebay?

Hey guys, my tax stimulus check just came in and i was thinking about getting a cold air intake. I'm pretty much set on either the injen that is both cai and sri, or the road race motorsport one. Just not sure which one tho. However today i saw on ebay that there was a Cold air intake kit for 90$ through a company/ ebay store called Hi Pro Speed. Has anyone purchased this CAI, or gone through hi pro speed for anything? I just want to make sure that the company is legit, and that they don't sell me a crappy CAI that will screw up my car. thanks dudes

I wouldn't buy it. I tend to shy away from car parts on Ebay.

There was someone else on this forum that bought a CAI kit off of ebay for his Ralliart. It didn't work out too well.

Just my opinion, but Im pretty sure a lot of others will agree to this:
"you get what you pay for".

When buying off Ebay you just have to question the brand more.

If you are getting an Injen intake, well thats fine and who cares where you buy it from. If its a "Megan" intake, when then its a hit or mis kidna thing.

When buying on EBay be more concerned with the seller and their reputation as an individual or store. If you are buyign a brand name product from someone stateside, less chance of it being a knock off.

I've bought many things on Ebay for my old Prelude and my 350Z, just do your due diligance first.

I'm more concerned with how the CAI works on these cars in general...wondering if most have gained or lost performance...

I appreciate the insanely quick feedback.

For those that have the injen or RRM CAI, have you had any problems that you've run into? Any concerns with hydrolock? and How easy was it to install? I keep hearing all this stuff about removing the front bender, or removing the splash guard underneath the car, and some say you can remove the foglight and install it thru there. What is the easiest and most convenient way do install it?

Here in PR, a few guys have test the AEM and Injen on dynos, and they say the injen its the better one, Plus I've heard people say the AEM gives you a cel (I dont know if this is true) Every one say the INJEN its better, so why buy the other one, hehehe

I used the INEN, its very good mod, no cel. about the hydrolock, as long as you stay out of the water you wont have any problems, Rain is no problem, but passing by floods is were problems are. ( < that doesnt sound right, anyway i think you know what im trying to say)

If you want a INJEN, I have one for sale

A) By floods, do you mean this?

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=357374

B) The only reason i was looking at RRM's was that a lot of people on this site recommend it, and they say thier CAI out dynoed AEM and Injen.

C) How much are you selling it for, and do you know how much it will cost to ship to georgia?

i have the injen and i love it! keep in mind that if you are really concerned about hydrolock, you should get the injen one because you can convert it to SRI if you want during the rainy seasons and switch later. but hydrolocking is pretty much if your CAI is submerged under water, very much like that picture. rain isnt much of a problem as long as your not driving in floods. and you only need to remove on of the plastic splashguards, but trust me, that CAI filter is really tucked in there. you can't even see the filter (IMO) but yes, i would remove the fron bumper, its a lot easier. something else that you should remove is the old harness thingy that holds the stock airbox and the battery tray for better fitment.

I was the one that bought the ebay intake. It was in fact the Hiprospeed one. It threw a check engine light the second day, I reset the ECU andit kept doing the same thing. So I converted it to short ram and it goes on and off every 5 days or so. That gets annoying but the intake sounds good at high rpms. As for the other intakes out there, you do get what you pay for. I recommend AEM, Injen, Fujita, or RRM. There intakes are more pricey than I could afford but will be worth your money in the long run. Yeah people still will get CEL's with these but its mainly due to either a dirty filter or improper installation. Save your money and get a good one. Don't make the same mistake I did

Im gonna buy one of the ebay ones, I dont like overpriced bull**** intakes, it doesnt take a genius to design one, and once they have a pattern its very cheap for them to make them, the ebay one is a much better design, it can be either cai or sri, plus it goes all the way to the throttle body unlike RRM, and RRM is heavy and a lil hard to instal, also uses a goofy 2.75 in piping so its super hard to find replacement filters. AEM is the only company to make a hydrolock bypass filter.

There is a difference between Aem and Injen. AEM has a better low-mid range, Injen is all mid range and top RPM, low end suffering a bit, but nothing extreme. The Injen ones tend to dyno more peak horsepower than AEM, but AEM gets on the power a bit before.

BTW I,ve had an Injen for 3 years now and never had an issue besides changing filters when they get old wich is normal. in 3 years I've changed only one tough, so they kinda last
