Service Engine Soon Mystery

Before all the posts on search roll in i just finished with 3 results and not one was helpful they were all just a list of codes and their meanings. About 2 weeks ago i got the SES light and manual says check your gas cap..seems stupid but i did and reset my battery which actually seemed to work. Then it came back about 3 days later so i decided ill take it in on the weekend. Weekend rolls around and lights back off. 3 days later its back on. I took her in and got 2 codes. P0705 (Trans Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction). second code is the same but says pending. Advance auto says take it in to a transmission place but i figured id check the experts first. My car is a 2006 Auto RA with a catback magnaflow and AEM short ram thats the only mods under the hood. Thanks for any help.

Probably a sensor gone bad and needs replacing, but don't know which one. A dealer could tell you.

And the mystery continues. I took her in finally to give mitsu a chance to show that maybe they are worth something. Well turns out they arent, they had no idea what it meant or what was wrong they just reset it and told me to come back when it comes back..LOL in the mean time they tried selling me a new evo which i did test drive after they had to jump the battery..soooo not work 40k all i really liked was the seats.

I've had a check engine light for exhaust leak, all i did was tighten my gas cap and it went off, also had a code for crankshaft positioning sensor, never saw it again though

Sorry to drag this post on and on i recently left my car at my dealership for 5 days and they came up with my rrm black tails which are dot approved oem replacements are causing some sort of wiring issue that is going to cost me 300 dollars....anyone else with black tails and a ses light ??? im in the middle of working with rrm and the dealership to come to some resolution because it sounds like complete crap. original diag was the transmission range sensor, after that was cleared it says aftermarkey install according solely to mitsu cause i never got that one...and it was traced to my tail lights.

I actually have the same issue with the same lights from RRM too. If I press my brake pedal and have my right turn signal I get the P0705 check engine light and a fast blink on my left blinker. The wiring harness with the RRM tails is really bad, and shorts like crazy. so I kinda have it fixed but it coems back on its own every once and a while but now I know its not just me having them problem. good to know.

Last time i hopefully drag this one out lol. So after everything it finally turned out to be *drum roll*. . . . . the tail lights. One of the connectors went bad in the left tail light so when id reverse something about the transmission range sensor because it sends a signal to your tail lights or vice versa...anyways the SES light would grace me with its presence and because i didnt figure it out before the woppin 3 month window for rrm warranty im out some tail lights..so i traded in my car for an evo lol
